Midweek registered shooting anyone?

Following the lead of EJ Churchills, who early this week announced that they will be holding a registered ESP shoot on the first Thursday of every month, I had a word with David Lloyd today whilst at Manchester Clay Shooting Club to see if he would be prepared to do the same :hmm:

With the recent addition of the new stands I asked if he would be keen to offer something along these lines during the Summer months when the club has last entry at 7pm on a Wednesday:

- First Wednesday of month; registered English Sporting

- Third Wednesday of month; registered Sportrap

- Squadded shooting on both the above (no more than 6 per squad)

- Telephone entries in advance only

- Low entry fee (Hopefully £30)

- Sensible prize structure; high gun and maybe class winners

If everything falls into place we can hopefully get this kicked off in either April/May so with that in mind who would consider shooting comps of this nature?

Wednesdays great for those that can get out of work in time to shoot it admittedly ( And I will certainly do my best to attend, and show my support )

So Worsely scared of "competing" with other grounds ?

There no competition as far as Iam concerned a 140 mile round trip on a Sunday to shoot a regged comp or a 40 min drive to Worsely, Worsely gonna win every month, I don't think many of the North west guys would disagree with me.

Iam not picking on you Nick, Iam sure you know that, but these grounds that are quick to hold there hand up for MAJOR events, which drawn in a lot of money and prestige for the ground but they won't but a regular registered shoot for the locals, Iam sure you know the other gorund Iam thinking of.

Were as a ground that put on a registered shoot every couple of weeks don't seem to get a look in..

As far as Iam concerned it should work both ways, sadly it already become apparent that the CPSA needs the ground more then the grounds need the CPSA.

I think that it's more a case of accomodating both regular club members who have no aspirations to shoot registered competitions, and those who wish to shoot registered comps at Worsley; most of whom are unlikely to be members at MCSC. Finding that balance is the quest here and holding some registered shoots on a Wednesday, when the ground is already open seems a sensible compromise and first step to achieving this....
