sixhills 69
I Live in Leicestershire asked the FEO the same question they told me that after three years they would be happy to look at it as long as can show you have the need ie: other Farmers are asking you to cover their land. After five years on renewal its automatic as long as you have one peice of land cleeared for the calibers you want open ticket for. Good Luck
kent
Seriously little point in asking that here all forces treat this different and even within one area there are discepancies. Just send a letter in asking and remember to say why you need it
Luckyshot
hello all, i have had a fac for around 3 years now, a sgc for 9 years, and i live on a farm, i have .22 and .223 on i live in hampshire and am 21 years old, how do i go about getting an open ticket, and do you think they are likly to give me one thnaks\ An open ticket is usually only given when the op can show the need for it. If you have other farmers asking you to do vermin control for them and the land isn't cleared then that is good reason, but looking at this it looks like you don't have a need for your ticket to be opened. The land you shoot on now must all be cleared and it looks like you have no other uncleared land to shoot. Normally you wouldn't be looking for evem more as any you get needs to be cleared or be cleared. My fac was opened after 7 months as I showed a need for it, plenty of uncleared land that the owners wanted me to shoot. Every county is different so if you think you need it go for it. Pretty much as above, but some regions Open at first renewal, Thames Valley used to but they are talking about second renewal now...10years. Show reason (commonly lots of different land and ammo usage), and ask your region...is that Hampshire?! ATB!
Colster
I'd just ask. I did with mine after about 18months and got all calibres opened but as said above it varies from area to area as to their stance on when to open a FAC.
col1888
Hi Anyone know Lincolnshire's stance on opening a closed ticket please ? Col
Dunkield
how do i go about getting an open ticket, and do you think they are likly to give me one Ring your FEO give him your reasons and ask his view. How much shooting have you done? just having the guns for a while isn't good reason, if you can show you have done plenty and have a good reason they will grant it (Thames Valley) but due to reginal variations that doesn't mean Hampshire will. I had mine opened up after a year. Try not to call it 'an open ticket' they seem to prefer to call it 'having the restriction removed'

I only had my 243 for 7 months before giving them a call and be given the green light. I already had my DSC1 and the good reason was that I was doing my DSC2 and being invited on outings were I coulnt be sure if the land was passed before or not, I had already missed out on several cull outings due to the land not being able to be checked in time. daz2202
My fac was opened just under 7 months from being granted, I just asked and it was opened. I had good reasons for it to be opened, however my shooting mate who got his fac at the same time and gave the same reasons as me for opening was not granted. we live 7 miles from each other, shoot the same land, both had sgc for many years, only difference is our firearms officers are different. I obviously like mine more than he likes his
roebuck243
Same here didnt even ask it was recommended, and asked if i had considered an open ticket and i gladly agreed a long time ago.Shooting roe on several different owners land it comes in handy especially when you get asked to sort any problems with crop damage out. Greenhunter
I've had mine about 2 1/2 years. Just put a variation in and asked for the restriction to be lifted at the same time. Quoted reason as missing shooting opportunities due to land not being cleared.....it was refused because they said I hadn't shot enough ammo!! Another variable why you might not get it lifted. asking is the only way you are going to find out for sure. GH
