GREAT WEBSITE FOUND

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps,

I have been asking loads of questions about reloading on here recently including any recommended suppliers. None of the replies were much use, and I am surprised by the lack of decent websites here in the UK. As I have just had an operation on my knee, I have had an entire week to trawl the net about reloading and must be nearly an expert by now...lol

There is only one gun-shop anywhere near me and he is not that cheap & supplies are limited. I have found a couple however that are massive and specialise in postal supplies one nr Oxford the other in Luxembourg.

The UK one is reloadingsolutions.com - they have a website under construction and I have been dribbling for hours, they do not have a current price list due to fluctuating prices but you can download the entire stock-list on .pdf and email them for prices and they will provide all the info and prices you need as a quote - they will post most stuff bar explosives and expanding ammo, brilliant site and good comms. Wish I lived a bit nearer so I could collect powder and bullets.

The other site that has impressed me is shooting-supplies.eu - Brilliant! - on a par with some of the decent state-side sites, even better the prices are the best I have seen so far - with no VAT to be clobbered with unlike the state-side orders. They do not appear to stock powders or primers probably due to shipping regulations BUT they will mail hollow point, soft-point & polymer tipped bullets and at a better price than I can pick them up for locally!

Hope I am not repeating information already discussed here but I was so pleased with coming across these sites, I wanted to share them with everyone. I will be spending a few quid there very shortly... ATB

I know its legal from outside the EU but not sure about within. Some research is required as looks like a really good deal

It certainly does, I need a fair bit of equipment and dont want to pay for a new press but I will be making an order and will let you know what happens, I at least need to order dies and bullets and a few other bit and pieces.

Be very careful... as far as I am aware section 5 prohibited gear (that means expanding ammunition) can only be delivered by a section 5 licensed carrier. Try getting any uk based reloading supplier to ship exp ammo mail order, you will get the same answer from all of them. Could be a reason for that :hmm:

I'm waiting to see if I can get an order through here, costs are silly compared to here :good:

Looks like £ for $ to what I pay here. I pay £35 for a box of 50 Nosler Partition 125gn for my 6.5x55, they are $35 over there, I don't know if there will be much of a saving with shipping & duty etc.

ah the .243 sierra bullets I can buy 200 for $45 plus delivery and duty which is £28 its close as to whether duty would get levied. Shipping is another £9 round here they are at cheapest about £25 a box plus a lengthy drive to anywhere that holds much stock so well worth taking a punt on

I bought some kit from the place in Belgium and could not fault the service.

If your buying from the states, and want to save on the shipping cost, see if you can build up an order.

If you keep the total value below £100 it should be duty free, or at least mine was, although on one order I saved £180 over buying it in the UK even though I paid the duty.

' .. I hate getting ripped off in this blooming country - 20% VAT plus any other duty..'

IIRC Belgium has 21% VAT and similar other duties ... so must be another explanation for the price savings?

Somewhere there's a thread on the limit for no duty .. from memory its well below a £100. But it seems there's a 'large luck' factor for private parcels. But for commercial imports all pay.

Just to clarify the import situation.

Any item valued at £18 or under is exempt from all import duty, VAT etc.

Gifts have a limit of £40 before Import Duty etc. but must comply with the relevant guidelines.

Import Duty is applied to items valued over £105 (but is usually only a small percentage).

Customs Duty also applies to items over £135 but will be waived if the amount due is less than £9.

However, all shipments over £18 are liable to Import VAT and a possible handling charge, VAT is calculated on the total value, item value + shipping cost + Import or Customs Duty + handling charge

Indeed :D

That's why I get all my stuff sent to friends on the Gulf Coast, saved about £350 on the last trip which was almost enough to pay for the flight :)

Going again at the end of the month and getting worried as I worked out I have about 2 suitcases worth of stuff already waiting for me to collect!, so no room to bring back any of the usual shopping :(
