ilovemyheckler
i have just bought a 2nd hand AirArms S410 and now need to purchase something to charge it with. I wont be using it every day so what represents the best value/ease of use option? A pump - how easy are these to give a full 250bar fill? or dive cylinder system but what cost and where to buy? Thanks

baconbuttie
Whatever you decide to do it with, please don't charge your rifle to 250bar. 180bar will be plenty enough.

bullet1747
i use a hand pump trick is dont empty gun before you charge it back up useing a hand pump easy
foxbuster
I use a stirrup pump and find it no problem to recharge my BSA so long as you dont let the gun discharge all its pressure (as stated). A dive bottle itself will need to be recharged periodically. I'd personally go with the pump.
The Duncan
I've got a 7ltr 300 bar Charging Bottle. +1 from me and it's ample - needs charging once or twice a year if you're shooting regularly £3 local to me. Plus no aneurism from the pumping - save the pumping for the bedroom lol Edited May 4, 2011 by The Duncan
pabs
The sweet spot on my rifle is around 45 shots. I then need to refill(1600 back up to 2200) If I'm doing a lot of target for a whole afternoon, I'll need to refill at least 5 times, probably more. Thats starts to get real flipping old after a while if you are using a handpump. Plus the fact that your once relaxed muscles and steady slow heartbeat is now all over the place, and you need to recompose your whole body again, each time you refill.Plus the water issue. Handpumps are an old tech' Scba bottles are the way to do it these days. Yes they are a pain in the A to lug into a field. Thats when you invest in a second small 3ltr 300bar bottle. Initial investment is higher than the handpump but the benefits far outweigh the relatively small extra cost.

Clubshot
Issue with Air Bottles & Pumps Personally prefer Air bottles as have several precharge Gun's And today's pumps are nearly as expensive as a Air Bottle Not forgetting that many Gun's get around 40 good fills from a 12 Litre 300 Bar For around a £6.00 Fill Another major issue with pumps is need to lay Gun on Ground near Pump - seen a few accidents Also when pumping you get heat which can create moisture in Gun - does not happen with bottle fills - When filled slowly Also many Air Gun Clubs will fill gun's for Members / visitors - saving the need to buy bottles to start with BOB/R
HW100TMXMAN
Agreed at no filling above 180. For me bottle everytime. If you are looking for a cheaper option, talk to your local dive centre and see if they have any cheapies. Remember older pumps have has problems with mosture...
