snowz
I'm just waiting for some powder to turn up so i can make some loads up for my newly acquired .222 M590, will be loading 40gr vmax on top of N120. More than capable of foxes out to "normal ranges" and a bit further, will be going for some longer range crows and rabbits with mine too you wont regret a 222 for pest control

As for effective range it will out shoot the shooter but for foxing 200yd shots not a problem and rabbits a bit further. They are a very accurate round and one of the first bench rest calibers
wymberley
Good out to 250yds with a 50gr. Loads out there, just don't forget to have a look at Weihrauch - HW 66 is the better choice.

ST3V3
im happy with my cz 527 does everything i need it to personally I dont think theres a lot in the .222 .223 argument apart from ammo choice/ availability as i home load this doesnt affect me
.philmypower.
Are they any good open scoped or would you say a scope is a must, just trying to keep the price down
snowz
Are they any good open scoped or would you say a scope is a must, just trying to keep the price down suppose thats a personal choice, but i wouldnt imagine foxing at night with open sights would be easy

Evil Elvis
cz527 with t8 quite and deadly, once you have your eye in realistically take foxes to 250 and have pushed further and taken bunnies in xs of 300 yards...if you can get privi partisans....cheap to run too. Just got 100 for £47 Mines not much louder than my hmr!

wymberley
 this was mine but now i've got this Ooooh and then aaaah. Like what you did with the 66 wood; was thinking about it, now I will. Thanks. Back to topic, you can always load a 223 down to a 222 but you can't upload a 222 .......
henry d
I like my triple it`s a 595 and is very accurate with a cheap(ish) tasco scope on it. Save up for the scope first
Loki
Hiya I've had my M595 in stainless/sythetic for awhile now - done everything I needed it to north of the border and many a fox met his demise south - last week-end 2 more didnt like it. I would not consider giving this up - even with other rifles including a Beretta, Parker-Hale, Steyer-Mannlicher and Winchester to choose from when going 'walkabout' ........................ Unless pushing the envelope any mid-range scope will set you up with a good tool. Cheers
