CZ Stock

It's taken a lot of hard work but it now has the desired shape and finish (or as good as it is going to get)

Being quite opened grained it has gulped up the oil so I have waxed it now, as I need to get it back together again to start using it.

The original stock is at the top to show the contrast is weight and size, the object of the excersize was to get the balance back down the stock when the mod is on, and to raise the comb.

It was quite hard to photograph as the original stock has a high gloss finish that bounces the flash.

very nice job mate :/

How did you get that finish? what oils, grain filler?

Hi Ncik,

The oil was just plain old boiled linseed oil rubbed in with 1000 grade wet and dry, which finished off the wood and filled in the grain at the same time. After that I just applied 'London stock wax' which I have had for years and had to heat up just to get it useable

spot on mate, i have always hated the way cz rounded of the combs on their stocks like that which is why i got the syntheic stock (which is awsome by the way!!).  is this a new stock or just the cracked one repaired? certanly looks the part

Its the original cracked one repaired, I opened up the crack and poured Zap CA (superglue) in the crack to sort it.

Here it is re-assembled when I worked out how all those bits I had in a bag went back together :)

I will try and get decent picture in natural light, as none of these do it justice...

:D:D That CZ has turned into a thing of beauty now Stuart. :D:lol::/

Well put together. :D

i know its a little way off, but you are both meant to be attending bisley, maybe a good opertunity to try out this stock on your dads rifle.

also could do with your clays deposit flash if you deffinatly want the places (but understand your circumstances, just a reminder :/

Flash, they list:

BRNO: 600, 601, 602, CZ 550, CZ 452, CZ 527

Not sure if any of those are the American equivelant of the 511, but you can always drop them line to find out, they may be able to do something close that can be adapted to fit.

I don't know anything about 511's so I am not sure what they are similar to...

Right the 'new' one is definitely on it's way now so if anyone is interested in doing the same to their CZ, PM me.

I will start a new thread with some pictures so this is just a heads up, I reckon £50+p&p is a very reasonable price, it would cost between £80-100 to get one over depending on whether you get caught for import duty or not - and a 12 week MIN wait of course . . .
