Spara Dritto
Lol I'm still hitting 40's out of 50 when I go back to the clay cartridges and have been for a while that’s why I put it down to recoil messing me up for the second shot. saying that I don’t mind because using the other cart feels amazing lol. al4x
Well get out and shoot some bloody pigeons then. It's no good dry mounting in your bedroom, faffing about at clay grounds and asking questions on here. All your questions will be answered when you finally pull the trigger on your first pigeon. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that load and it will kill birds all day long. Forget the amateur ballistics, get out and shoot the damn things. finally some sense, I was starting to think PW was loosing the plot starting talking about powders being the issue on one of the most used pigeon loads going p.s no need to apologise BI I'm fairly thick skinned and simply curious about what you did post Now just go out and shoot some! Vince Green
so gamebore clear pigeon are faulty which causes the "excessive" recoil think I've heard it all now Why do everybody else seem to get on fine with them? No thats not true, a lot of people like a sharper kick because it gives the feel of it being a good powerful, hard hitting cartridge which it undoubtedly is. The only problem comes if you find the recoil uncomfortable, if thats the case seek a slower burning powder which will smooth it out a bit for you. Floating Chamber
The only gun that hurt me was a 4 gauge, over twenty years ago. The pain was in my pocket. £150 for a dental bridge.

yickdaz
you don,t tend to feel recoil as much when your on the pigeons because your adrenaline is flowing and your concentrating on the bird. but clay shooting its more delibarate and your waiting for recoil,or looking for recoil when testing carts, i,ve gone through 1000 clear pigeon this year up to now and bought more nowt wrong with the shell, and recoil moderately for me,but we are all different. Spara Dritto
Ok, so... I've ordered one of these bad boys : http://www.swillingtonshootingsupplies.co.uk/store/product/1381/Browning-Reactar-Pad/ hoping it will reduce recoil, from the reviews they seem very good! Now my question is which way round do I put it in my vest? I'm almost 100% sure that the side you can see in the pic should be in contact with your shoulder and that the back side you cant see will be against the skeet vest / butt pad. Anyone else agree? Spara Dritto
I will be yep! And in the winter wear a jacket over the skeet vest. Is that strange then? It's ok though its the Jack Pyke, it doesn't look too out of place: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.directshootingsupplies.co.uk/prods/images/683_2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.directshootingsupplies.co.uk/prods/jack-pyke-pro-sport-lightweight-ultra-gp-skeet-vest.html&usg=__475JQ4wehujOJ44CzNuq-367yZk=&h=274&w=250&sz=27&hl=en&start=15&zoom=1&tbnid=rWFhmV8QLhC8-M:&tbnh=118&tbnw=108&ei=LtwITtOKLYOSswaVyOSaDA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Djack%2Bpyke%2Bskeet%2Bvest%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D939%26bih%3D556%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=249&page=2&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:15&tx=49&ty=80&biw=939&bih=556 And this is the jacket I will wear in the winter: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/ekmps/shops/bduimportsltd/images/jack-pyke-hunter-jacket-english-oak-447-p.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/jack-pyke-hunter-jacket---english-oak-447-p.asp&usg=__vMXvR3XOovcaTlkCdtx14YEQNLk=&h=547&w=500&sz=94&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=etfkyWm37Eoa4M:&tbnh=125&tbnw=115&ei=adwITohlkM6zBtz85bsM&prev=/search%3Fq%3Djack%2Bpyke%2Benglish%2Boak%2Bjacket%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D939%26bih%3D556%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=118&vpy=60&dur=265&hovh=235&hovw=215&tx=141&ty=155&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&biw=939&bih=556 Edited June 27, 2011 by Beretta Italy
poontang
Well I may be wrong here but I'm sure the Reactor pad is designed to fit Browning skeet vests, which have special pockets in the shoulder which the pad slips into? And if you're wearing a jacket like that in winter you won't need a vest and recoil pad. Plenty of padding in them already. Putting on loads of extra layers will only hamper your shooting. Spara Dritto
Yea the Jack Pyke doesn't come with one but I can quite easily make a pocket out of material. And I know what you mean about the padding but the one I've got hasn't got the inner coat or anything its just a thin waterproof jacket so hardly any padding. Spara Dritto
Also, I will put the pocket on the inside so you wont see anything Exciting times! Lets hope it works. The shoulder width on the jacket is 4inches at the thinnest, the pad is 3 3/4 so should just fit, fingers crossed. poontang
Exciting times! Exciting times indeed So what gear have you got? Hide net/poles, decoys, bouncers, magnet etc. All far more important than recoil pads. And, WHEN are you going to shoot your first pigeon? Spara Dritto
Haha As soon as possible!!! ahhhh I can't wait. Going lamping soon as I get the call hoping in around a week or so. Basically - Friend said I can shoot on her land as soon as they buy it (58 acres about 2 weeks) it got put off for a week as she went into hospital. Shes all well and good now so I will ask her when I see her in the next few days, just getting everything I need for it at the moment 6 p's

Thunderbird
The only time recoil has been a real issue for me was shooting 100 sporting in a t-shirt, using an old ultra-light game gun and Kent Velocity cartridges, when I was a beginner and my gun mount was truly terrible. I have the same gun as you (to all Is and Ps) and I have put all sorts through it and it feels pretty much the same each time. Beretta claim to do all sorts in their guns to reduce felt recoil and I think it works, provided the mount is good.
