djgeoff
i am wondering if any one can help me out with the auto intermittently not cycling my 32 6 plas wads, it started today and happened five times. i am aware the gas ports have to be cleaned etc and the barrel gets cleaned after every use and a major clean at least once a month, no oil is used. ever since i bought the gun second hand ( was 12months old when i got it) it has never really like 28gram 7halfs. i will try to describe the location of the next cart loading: it seems to stick just on the outside edge of the breach ( hope that's the correct term) by a very small amount. i can tell you i put 100 carts through it on saturday gone after this shot gun got barrel clean, then today fired about 50 carts then it started. i was using kent velocity carts today and on saturday i was using clear pigeon both were 32gram 6's. what could be cause ? is there any adjustments that could be made to cure this? how often should i strip gun and clean? regards geoff
sitsinhedges
If it hooks up where the extractor hook fits into the breech, right hand side, it's the classic Urika bent carrier FTF problem and is usually cured by twisting the carrier slightly or replacing it. You shouldn't have any problem cycling any cartridge with the Urika in my experience This may help. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=101242
barney 66
Had my urika 4 years now, never had a problem cycling any thing from 28g to 34g carts, but i do always soak the piston in vinegar water mix and the carbon just wipes off then finish with napier gun cleaner,i also polish the piston with autosol every now and again and the rod it goes on,this seams to help it stay cleaner,i do a full strip every 600 to 800 cartridges, this has now had about 3000 cartridges through it, Hope you get it sorted, Chris. Gordon R
Mate had the very same problem - drove him round the bend. It ended up jamming about ten times in a 50 bird. Twisted the carrier - bit of trial and error. Totally cured. Not jammed in last 1000 shells since.

Gordon R
Geoff - it is the pressed metal plate which you push up to insert a shell into the magazine. The trick is to have it slightly higher on the right hand side as you look down the gun from the butt and from the top. Imagine the gun the right way up - you pull back the block and as you look down at the carrier the side nearest the block handle should be bent so that it is slightly higher. The photo is from sitsinhedges' link. Edited July 11, 2011 by Gordon R

Gordon R
The older parts were more rigid and didn't twist, but were heavier. In their quest for lightness, I think Beretta just went too far.
dave1419
All good advice given, you might also want to check the operation of the forend screw cap-it holds everything together-the cap is spring loaded and should move when compressed against something flat.If it won't compress try cleaning it first with some decent penetrating oil, this maintenance of the end-cap is not mentioned in the Beretta service manual and is always overlooked by owners. If you can't manage to get it to operate properly you might end up having to buy one.Believe Avalon guns stock them-----Dave

djgeoff
ok chaps soory to ask again just whana make sure before i go bending. i have stripped trigger assem out tonight to take a peak at the carrier and this is what i found please see pics. it appears the carrier is already bent, is it bent the correct way? looking at it as in pic 2 it appears to have a twist / slant from right to left so the part of the carrier with the raised bit on it is lower than the right. looking at the link vic gave me and the method of clamping in vice at one end the screw driver in carrier and pushing down wards this would mean my carrier is bent the wrong way, is this correct? cheers geoff
