shotgun sam
I you have a 6 gun cabinet what is the legal situation if you have 7 guns in it?
Colster
Depends on your FEO really, some will let you keep stuffing them in there but in the end it's more likely to annoy you... having to take three guns out to get the one you want, plus the likelihood of dents and scrapes. Beardo
with my FLO, if it fits in the cabinet, he's happy with it - i think mine is a five gun, but did have 7 at one point
Cosd
Safest bet is to check with your FAO, but mine says as long as the cabinet locks he doesn't care.
bobt
some get worried you wont bother to put them away.
shotgun sam
if I buy another larger cabinet to replace the original does the feo have to come out to inspect it?
Richard756
I moved my cabinet to a differant place in my house gave my fao a ring to let them know and he didnt want to come out to check it just said thanks for letting them now. Just give them a bell and let them now.
Bad Monkey
My FEO said i can squeeze as many in the cabinet as i like so long as it locks. Others are more strict i gather. If you want a bigger cabinet, just give 'em a call and see what they say.
CZ550Kevlar
As others have said, depends on your FEO, i have 2 cabinets, one is a cabinet for regular guns that i use a lot which is a 7 gun cabinet with 5 guns in it, the other is kind of a dumping ground for rifles and shotguns i have which rarely get used, this cabinet is meant for 5 guns but i have ended up putting guns muzzle end down and muzzle end up and so far have 9 in it and so long as it locks my FEO is fine with it. wymberley
If you're asking because you're thinking of getting one more gun and don't want the additional expense of another/bigger cabinet, in my neck of the woods at this point you'd trip over into the requirement for an alarm. May be worth checking unless you're already aware of your local situation.
Dekers
Any definition of the capacity of the Cabinet is a suggestion made by the manufacturer, that's all!
kyska
I have a five gun, and my FEO said no more than 4 in there.....not sure if I have to do as I'm told though.
Dekers
I have a five gun, and my FEO said no more than 4 in there.....not sure if I have to do as I'm told though. Did you ask him why, that seems dumb in the extreme?
kyska
Did you ask him why, that seems dumb in the extreme? To be honest I didn't, as he was interviewing me for FAC, so I didn't want to rock the boat! I can't see how they can instruct me on that anyway. butcherboy
As others have said, my FEO told me "if the door shuts you can have as many as you want". On renewal of cert a new FEO agreed with him I'd make some thin cotton slips (long thin pillow case style)for each gun if I was going to cram them in. I can understand that............. .......... but that really is daft, and he doesn't have a chance of enforcing it unless you have it as a specific written condition, which you won't because it is daft!! apache
I had a gun cabinet made bigger and for 3 days I had 12 guns (2 of them scoped rifles) in a 6 gun cabinet. I was very very careful but I could lock the door! I did have 8 guns in a 6 gun cabinet and asked North Yorkshire Police if it was ok and I was told it was and security was my problem!
