stubby
so, out shooting the other week, and came across what I thought was a bumper load of sloe berries, twice the size of normal, so went back a few days later and started picking, BUT, yes theres a but, I then came to another "normal" sloe bush, and it makes me think the first ones aint sloes leaves very simular, but double the size bumper sloes bush was not prickly, where as normal bushes are fruit slightly more oval in shape anyone have any ideas??, Im in the mind of just chucking them in some vodka, but of course, dont want to poison myself or anyone else Edited September 20, 2011 by stubby

Paul T
Damsons - Bigger than sloe, more oval and with a slight 'cleavage'. I think bullace are a bit rounder? None of either round here , but we've got some mighty big sloes this year. Get them in some Vodka
Brown Sauce
I'd say damsons, given the lack of spines and the size. Try the fruit and you might find them sweeter than the sloes.

John_R
My local source of Damsons was all ripe and gone months ago. Do they really have a season this long?
