barrelsniffer
Looking for a new gun safe and leaning towards something like the large Buffalo 14 or 22 gun Gold series or something similar so instead of the 2 i have now replacing them with one large one..but would like to see before buying so are there any stores in the Northwest of England that have these or other large cabinets in store ?? Mungler
I have a 14 gun with locking top box and digital lock. It was the nuts and sub £500 delivered on a pallet. I got the details of the importer and then ordered through my local gun shop. I would recommend one to any one (I went through 4 cabinets / safes etc before, and decided to plumb for something that would do me forever). phaedra1106
My 10 gun is 520mm wide, currently holds 1 air rifle, 3 shotguns and 4 FAC rifles all pretty close to each other, there's no way I'd try to get 10 in so go for one a bit bigger than you think you need. Beretta28g
Mungler is it only digital keypad operated? and is there a mains connection or does it work by battery and if so what happens when the battery runs flat? Cheers
Mungler
The key pad is 4 x AA operated. I put Duracell batteries into it years ago and they are still going strong... I think a bit of preventative battery changing maybe in order. There is a physical key back up / entry of course - I have the keys in one of those key safes stashed in the house. Deffo worth doing - getting the guns in and out is easy now. Yes, you still need a key for the locking top ammo box, but life is made easier without a doubt with the electronic key pad. Having drilled into about 4 different makes of gun cabinet over the years (during the course of mounting them onto walls and floors) I can honestly say that all cabinets are there for show and a first line of defence against an unprepared / passing thief. A disc cutter would get through any cabinet in the blink of an eye and even just drilling into them with a decent drill / drill bit combo is like going through butter. Accordingly, there is no point getting to wound up on the gun security thing, you want something that is easy for you and keeps you within the law. It's about first line / passing security not Fort Knox security if you know what I mean.
