TJ91
Very interesting thread.....that has completely confused me I am going to be using an old remington 11 87 (yank gun) in a few weeks, it doesn't have the mark for HP steel but states on the barrel that it is proofed for pressures that are inline with the HP loads and the quarter choke in it says 'steel ok' I was going to put some mammoth 36g 3s through it but I am unsure now!? I would of thought they would be safe to use with the proof mark being what the HP loads are and also it being a yank gun with thick barrels (that weigh a hefty bit) .... AlistairB
SO just checked my book for the M2 and it says: "For the 12 guage versions you can use shells with a 70mm or 76mm case, armed with either lead or steel shot." the it says "All Benelli shotguns are subjected to a 1370 bar burst test at the Italian National Proof House in Gardone Valtrompia (Brescia)" On the actual case of my Gamebore Mammoth 3 36g 4's it says "High Performance Steel Shot for weapon steel shot proved to 1370 bar" so i think i'm ok! ....and relax..... Schern
Can I fire HP shot through my silver pigeon 1 sporter? http://www.beretta.com/Long-guns/Competition-guns/Over-and-Unders/686-Silver-Pigeon-I-Sporting-Optima-Choke/index.aspx?m=82&f=2&id=1518 The above site would suggest not. The Lylium box would have a FDL in it if it was HP proofed. I'd expect it to be magnum proofed (should have 2 stars stamped on it somewhere) but not for HP steel. AlistairB
Can I fire HP shot through my silver pigeon 1 sporter? Not sure this will help but look on the left hand side of the bottom barrel - my SP 5 has it stamped there. AB

AB I didn't look but if your sp5 has it, all the Silver pigeons are the same gun - just different grades of wood and engraving!

Spara Dritto
Same, it just gets damn expensive. I've got in my mind set, when my current stock breaks I'm spending £600+ on getting some nice wood. In a way I'm hoping it will break soon (although I know it wont for years!)   at least I could then justify it!
