Cosd
Every time I'm eating a steak at home I'm always saying that we really should get some proper steak knives, but that thought is always forgoten by the time the steak is digested Was with the better half in Ikea yesterday getting some bits and came across these which I thought was a blinding deal and they seem decent quality too.... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80087221/ Just thought I'd give you a heads up
Chris Bb
If the steak's so tough that you need a saw to cut it I'd chuck it in the bin uneaten!

The set I had got given to me for crimbo, they were the ones with molded hollow plastic either side of the steel shaft. I hate this type of cutlery, matter collects inside whilst in use and whilst washing them, very unhygenic. I threw them out.

John_R
I agree on the rare meat front, but sometimes it is good to have sharp dining knives. Look for Laguiole, you'll not go wrong, and they look a million times better than those Ikea things.

John_R
Saw some steak knives in France years ago that looked like 'flick' knives. Quite possibly from Laguiole who I mentioned above. Very good knives.

ziplex
We bought some cheaper Sabatier steak knives approx 5 years ago,(about £5-6 each), they've been well used but with an occasional stroke on a steel are still going strong/plenty sharp enough.
