pboro shot
every pigeon ive shot recently was full of berries and acorns odd one full of pheasant feed although they were shot over rape they clearly arent feeding on it ,wont be long not going to be easy with the height of the rape at the minute could do with a good herd of sheep over them

Edwinmark3
hello just a quick question anybody had anyluck on this winters rape yet, anyone had a decent bad yet or is it still too early ? cheers Matt Been out twice in the last 3 weeks and nothing has changed .Half a dozen birds in the trees but nothing in the air or on the rape.Went out this morning and was back home at 11am
Catweazle
Still in the woods here, hoovering up acorns and chestnuts like mad. Unfortunately at least half the leaves are still on the trees which makes shooting difficult.
12Greygrouse
Went out last Sunday, started decoying over rape shooting from the edge of a line of oaks. I thought the balance of acorns/rape might get me something. Very, very quiet with only one taken from the tree above me. Switched to inside a wood under an oak about 3pm hoping for some early roost shooting but no improvement. Not seen any significant flocks of pigeons either, just not cold enough for them yet? Nice day to be out in the field though....
BenBhoy
same story here, tons around bottoms of beech trees, no interest in the rape. just have to bide time fellas. every pigeon ive shot recently was full of berries and acorns odd one full of pheasant feed although they were shot over rape they clearly arent feeding on it ,wont be long not going to be easy with the height of the rape at the minute could do with a good herd of sheep over them flock
motty
I think it depends what area you are in as to whether the pigeons will be on the rape or not. I've been lucky to have been able to shoot plenty over barley stubble in the last few weeks, but i think that may have dried up now. My dad saw thousands of pigeons on a rape field near Watton, Norfolk a few days ago. If there aren't many alternatives, pigeons will start to hit the rape - have patience, people. I haven't even looked at any rape that i've got permission on, i just don't think they'll be on it yet.

garden gun
Starting to move on to winter wheat here. Saw a huge flock this morning, first of this Autumn. Crows are the main feeders at the minute (over and above the partidge and pheasant).
