Wildfowler12
Can you guys recommend me a good CHEAP spray gun oil? I currently use Webley 3fore1, it great but it's costly and I'm going through it quickly. Somebody told me to just use WD40 but I didn't fancy that. Any thoughts?? Thanks

Wildfowler12
It's just for the slider, trigger components and rotary bolt on my benelli. It's the camo version so won't have to worry about fading the blueing. I just wasnt sure if there was any other problems with WD40?
Dr_evil
Shouldn't be a problem, its a high grade lubricant Could try some KY though

Gimlet
Use proper gun oil- Napiers or PH Express, Tetra etc- just use it sparingly. Dampen a rag with a quick squirt and wipe over metal parts. No need to spray the gun till its dripping off.

Andy H
Been using WD for over 30 years for wiping down and dewatering but for trigger mech and bolts etc 3 in 1 oil works for me , Rifled barrels get the Hoppes no 9 treatment. BlaserF3
WD 40 will remove the stock finish on the Xtra wood Beretta's, if it comes into contact with it  Don't ask me how I know

The truth is that gun smiths ont make money on wd40 It's fine just like kitchen roll or loo roll is just as good as patches. WD 40 will remove the stock finish on the Xtra wood Beretta's, if it comes into contact with it  Don't ask me how I know Oops !!! I never said clean the wood with it... It may not be good for that. Come on blaser tell us what you did. Edited November 16, 2011 by Mike525steel

I was spraying the trigger and some WD 40 ended up on the stock...by the time I noticed it and wiped it off the stock finish lifted and left a bare patch. I use the bottled version on my O/U and my auto, it's brilliant stuff! I didn't realise you could get it in an aerosol, I'll pick some up

Imperfection
Quick tip:Keep an old rag which is impregnated with gun oil inside a zip up sandwich bag ontop of your cabinet.Perfect for quick wipe down guns before storing and bag just keeps it moist! As for which brand? Any oil will do and i just use cheap Bisley oil in a spray can which costs around £3.
Mike525steel
There's a video I saw somewhere where patrick Flanagan put a line of 3 in 1 down the side of the action on his sx3 flanigun. If its good enough for him I suppose is must be good stuff
kent
I use Browning/Legia Spray So do i. I cannot get using WD40 it does remove bluing slowly away as bluing is in itelf a form of corrosion. It also will remove silver solder no not everytime but if you have and faults in it it will find its way in and under. This has just been discussed in another thread. If your one of the people who think this is rubbish then carry on its your rib- I have seen this with my own eyes, its also very good at removing bolts handles very cleanly creeping under the solder on Remmington 700 rifles I just bought a new extra large 750ml spray can of the browning stuff for £11, how much cheaper is the WD40 a box of shells t most? crazy
Wildfowler12
Just picked up a 750ml bottle of Legia for a tenner! That will do the trick cheers fellas.
