il cacciatore
Was out shooting today and put a crow decoy down then started calling. Was sitting for about 30 minutes and seen a murder of three crows coming in on my left, then all of a sudden they turned away. I thought, 'hang on, somethings not right here'. So I get up and walk out to the decoy and low and behold a guy and his dog are walking at about 100 yards away and closing in. When he sees me, he just carrys on walking so I empty my gun. I decide its pointless staying any longer and decide to just pack up, it was getting late anyway. So as I walk away with my stuff he turns about and goes back from where ever it was he came from. This was in the middle of the country side (obviously) I have no idea where he came from or where he was going but think he was trying to scare away the quarry or cause myself disruption. This other time I again was calling in crows (yeh I know) and then I get this feeling that I wasnt alone so I got out my hiding place and there were two kids in white shellsuits with 45 degree angled caps swaggering across the field with air guns in arm, when they seen me they turned about and kind of ran away. They must have been coming over to shoot my crow decoy. I later found out that they were on illegal without permission. On the same farm (on a seperate occasion) I saw a kid with an airgun on a neighbouring farm trying to take out a mallard, out of season with an airgun. Luckily he missed . Wasnt close enough to see his face. Anything happen to you when youve been out shooting along these lines?
Cranfield
Walkers off footpaths, birdwatchers without permission, ladies chasing out of control dogs, 4x4 owners who can't understand why they have no right to drive all over stubbles, hot air balloons emergency landings (one right in the middle of a field of standing wheat ) and many more. Its what living in the country and shooting is all about.
young gun
I was out decoying one day and had decided to use my air rifle instead of my shotgun for a change and i had just set out my decoys and had tucked myself up in a hedge to await the arrival of the pigeons about 10 minutes later i heard someone walking along behind me so i stepped out of my hide so i was visible to who ever it was and layed my gun on the ground and sure enough along comes a woman walking her dog, she then just carelessly walks right past me and through the middle of my decoys without a word and continued on. Clearly not a supporter of shooting and someone who shouldn't be there any way as there is no footpath through the land and the farmer hasn't given her permission to walk her dog there. i decided that today was not going to be a good day for shooting so packed up and headed for home. I've also had live traps stolen and feeders smashed to pieces by some delightful people.
Cranfield
The most common comment you get when dog walkers appear (normally they live locally) is, "I always walk my dogs along here". When you ask if Farmer X has given them permission, as its private land, they say, "we're not doing any harm". If they kept to the farm tracks it would be just irritating, but they think they can walk round field headlands, as long as they keep out of the crops. Thats when it can become a major disturbance. ronttuk
on 1 of my shoots there are a few foot paths but the nice public think they can walk anywhere they want last week i was laid up waiting for the rabbits to pop there heads out after about 20 mins the 1st one showed i could see another behind it so i decided to wait a few more mins the a lady came strolling past with 2 dogs and sent the bunnies back in,she was nowhere near the footpath. ive got 3 woods as well on my permission i cant count the number of times ive had dog walkers shout at me telling me im not allowed to use my guns in there when i explain they are not on the footpath or anywhere near it they usually get abusive to me ive had one say hes was going to set his very large dog on me aswell!! i also always keep a tyre pump in the 4x4 as ive had all 4 tyres let down before! il cacciatore
One of the fields I cant even shoot on it because of the dog walkers and its infested. To make matters worse over here we have the 'freedom to roam' so there is no tresspass anymore. They can go wherever they want.
Cranfield
I didn't think that "right to roam" gave people the right to walk, anywhere they want. I'm sure there are still restrictions. Does anyone know the detail ?

flytie
I was shooting over some newly sown peas just outside of tewkesbury (a town in Gloucestershire where I used to live) when about forty balloons came over and landed all round me. They had taken off at Puckrup, the other side of the town, and came down about 3 miles away all round me. Needless to say that was it for the day. I was not best pleased but it's not a sight you see very often. I once had some lads from the forces doing an escape and evasion execise come through where I was going to roost shoot. They never saw me until I spoke to them. Laugh, I thought I thought my pants would never dry! Ft

Dunkield
A guy was walking his dog, a fair way off from where we were in Scotland. We were watching him threw our bins as he was well off the path and his dog was running arround off the lead, so our stalker was keen to keep an eye on him. He ducked in behind what little cover there was and dropped his troos to take a dump, when my mate shot a hind we had been stalking up on for some time. Well lets just say the sound of an unmoderated 6.5x55 echoing down the valley made him finish off his business a bit quicker than he expected too
Browning GTS
I must be lucky so far, there are 2 footpaths over my permission. Even though the surrounding area is popular with walkers, i have never seen a soul. In fact the paths and plank bridges over the ditches look like no one has crossed them for years. henry d
I occaisionally shoot a field where, even though the ScottishCAC states you can`t walk on sown/growing crops, everyone does.I even put up a sign at each access point saying "NO ACCESS - SHOOTING" Guess what happens.......yes they just look all about and carry on The main thing that seems to be a bonus or a hinderance is the RAF belting around the skies.Abonus is when it`s quiet and they scare the pigeon out of the trees and a hinderance is when you`ve got a skein af geese answering your call and opening their wings to come into the deeks and all of a sudden they slam on the brakes and disappear then 2 secs later Biggles and Algie go screaming past with afterburners on

I had just got to my bunny hunting ground and got into place. It was evening time and i was in amongst some trees. From the corner of my eye, saw a couple, hand in hand walking and stoping to kiss, at about 70 yds from me. They then layed down on the ground and started to ---------- yes you gussed it :o I got up, gave a aheerrm cough, which made them jump out their skins. I turned away and walked back to the car and went somewhere else. Was not that bad, ended up with 23 rabbits in the end. Frank.
