New pigeon shooter in Kent.

Evening all, my name is Dan, I'm from Walderslade in Kent and I have a small permission in Hoo where I take my air rifle.

I do have my interview next Thursday with the FO, who sounds like a top bloke and reckons I'll have my licence on my doorstep by the time I get back from holiday in January.

I have been watching these forums for a while and have already picked up some good tips. I have also noticed that I am not the only one desperately seeking new permissions, especially as mine in Hoo won't allow live fire which is fair enough as it's small and she has horses. With this in mind I have been looking at a few rough shooting syndicates until I get settled in somewhere else.

Does anyone here have any experience with Country sports in Sheppey, it looks good but their website is pretty vague, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. I am also from walderslade and have my interview on Monday! Do you shoot near the lakes in hoo by the power station?

Hi, good luck with yours then, the FO sounded like a decent bloke so you shouldn't have any hassle. (provided you're not a nutter, of course)

No my permission is only a couple of small fields, I don't know about the lakes, must have missed them while i was knocking on just about every farmers door in the area!

Hi all again, thought I would post an update, I applied for my licence on the 28th November and had the interview a week later. Still waiting for my certificate but called the licensing office on the 5th and they said I am looking at another month, so by my reckoning I have got about 16 days left. And counting. Very very slowly. :/ :/

Yours can't be much longer then mate when I called them on he 5th she said they were on Octobers applicants so yours must be any day now too I would have thought.

I'm counting on mine being about a fortnight now hopefully, it's driving me mad though I have permission on land till may and I can't use it aaaaaah

Let me know when yours arrives it will give me some hope :good:

welcome DannyBoy.

I am originally from Gravesend but moved to cornwall for work

How come you only have permission until May? Are you thinking about using a hushpower .410 or 12g on your permission? or would they not allow that?

I have permission at a 12 acre horse paddock and the owner lets me use an air rifle all year round but not live fire. Her horses are somewhere else until may therefore I can use the shottie until they come back. Have looked at the hush powers but know nothing about them. Are they really quiet? One of her horses is a professional show jumper so she is very careful with it which I understand. Plus being 12 acres it's small and although full of rabbits as soon as you fire the first shot be it air or shotgun the field is clear so would have to be near silent to be effective.
