More to the point, why is no-one threatening Kuwait or Isreal over their nuclear programmes? If anyt dispute arrises with either of these two, you can bet that Hague and the like will all be wittering on about 'construcive dialogue' and ne'er a mention of force.

Isreal is already a nuclear power therefore little point rattling 'non-proliferation' sabres at them... they already got 'em. Don't know about Kuwait... have never seen or heard anything at all about nuclear ambitions.. In fact.. most of the arab nations openly shun any notion of becoming a nuclear nation... they just don't want the misery and responsibility it brings with it!

You are right, Isreal are not signed up to the NPT so cannot suffer sanction for breaking it. That does not prevent any concerns being raised about its programme though surely? I would imagine that the Iranians themselves have one or two...

The Kuwait thing is interesting. Kuwait signed a bi-lateral agreement last year to develop nuclear power with Japan, they also signed a similar deal with the US. French firm Areva are contracted to build a £20bn reactor for Kuwait, potentially on Warba island; one of the disputed provinces that Iraq still claim as being part of Iraqi territory (one of the oft forgotton territorial disputes partly behind the Iraqi invasion under Saddam). The Iraqi parliament has already objected.

:good:

Artschool, you are a legend. With only eight words and that link you have managed to get The Daily Mail, Iran, Muslim extremists, pictures of cool looking airborne weapons, paranoid conspiracy and a bit of US bashing into one post!

If I add that the drone was shot down at 1600 ft by an Iranian Gypsy out foxing with a .177 12fp airgun to take his mind off the downgrading of his public sector pension; and the entire PW 'blue touch-paper list' will have been covered.

Hats off sir!

what a bunch of liars! imagine claiming to shoot it down when it had simply been "lost" by the American military

I bet they lose drones, and missiles all the time

We have a big military with a lot of equipment. It doesn't make the news usually if we lose something. And yes, it happens. The Pentagon loses track of billions of dollars and has been known to "lose" tanks and APC's, so losing a drone and not telling anybody wouldn't surprise me.

Anything the Iranians say you should take with a big grain of salt. The US government lies all the time, don't get me wrong, but I doubt think they'd lie over a drone getting shot down. Like I said in my earlier post it isn't too difficult.
