minghis
Proofed or not, air rifle or not, I couldn't get one mail order when I tried recently. Nor could I buy one from my local RFD's. Even though I had one on my rifle (and on my licence) apparently you can't get a new one until you have got the existing one taken off (like handed into a police station and getting a receipt) and then gone through the procedure of getting a variation to get a new one. Quite frankly the whole thing was a bloody joke. How airgunners get them is beyond me, I'd love to know. Stupid thing is, I can buy magazines that hold bullets without a variation or even a licence, yet a tubular bit of metal with a thread and baffles - oh no, it's classed as a firearm.... Madness. Agree with the above. I bought one from a RFD and told him that it was for an air rifle (which it was)and hd it with no questions asked. Alycidon
Moderator for use on a sub 12 foot lbs air rifle is not subject to the requirements of any firearms licensing as far as I am aware. You should be able to bowl up to your rfd, (maybe with the rifle you want it for in hand), make sure it fits ok, pay your money and away you go. For an air rifle though the old Parker Hale mod want some beating. A
