eredel
I've narrowed my choice of semi-autos down to the Winchester SX3 and the Beretta AL391 Urika. What does the team think??? Eric.
Dr_evil
had both, sx3 every time
sitsinhedges
The Argentinian high volume dove shooting outfits seem to use 391's almost exclusively. That tells you all you need to know. I have one in 12 and 20gauge too, superb guns
Cannon
SX3 for me, but the 391 is a good gun too.
Salop Matt
Will either cycle a 21 gram load reliably though ?
Dr_evil
SX3 will do 21's
Cannon
As above, the SX3 will cycle them with no problems.

Dr_evil
Don't have mine anymore mate, I'm in Bowness anyway Traded it in at Malmos guns for the 391 as it was better on paper but it was absolute SH$T when I used it, hated the feel and balance plus it jammed on 30g 6's Got rid of the damn thing a week later
chrispti
Used both, I prefered the beretta. Pick the one that feels the nicest to you. Cant go wrong with either
chris t
am at burton-on-trent (midlands). If you want to try out my 391 urika2. works fine for me.... Chris
12borejimbo
I know its not in the title choice and it might spoil the broth, but I would go for a Benelli M2 everytime.
chris t
he's right benellis are def worth checking out...
krugerandsmith
I've narrowed my choice of semi-autos down to the Winchester SX3 and the Beretta AL391 Urika. What does the team think??? Eric. Eric. I have a Browning Fusion which I love, however because of the cold north westerly wind and heavy rain yesterday decided to take my Escort Magnum with me to the clay shoot. Now I know a lot of people don't like these guns but you know I put a mixture of 21s..24s..28s and 32s ....80 in total through this gun and it never missed a beat ....I paid £190 for it and have to say I bloody Love it. humperdingle
I have a 391, and find it a very good, reliable gun, very nice to shoot. Haven't tried the other one you mention, so can't really comment on that.
Salop Matt
Chris T have you ever tried 21 grams in yours ? I do like the benelli comfortec which ever modle that is, i had a few shots with one once and it was very comfortable except the price ! it was more than the berretta. Paul T
Tried both and to be honest, I'd be happy with either. I was on the verge of buying a new SX3, but got a good deal on a S/H Beretta. If I was buying new then SX3 and save a few quid. My Beretta will cycle 21g Comp X plaswads, but it doesn't like 21g Lyalvale or (surprisingly) 28g Comp X fibre.
Salop Matt
Paul T is it fiber wad in general that it doesnt like ?
chris t
I've never used mine for clays, so only used 30g 32g . But I only ever use fibre wads. Seems to work fine for me. If you fancy a try with it, then PM me. I'm sure I can get the trap out the shed. But bring your 21g carts and try it... I know most semis like 70mm (2 3/4in) carts (or longer). Especially if you go below 30g. Chris
Salop Matt
How far are you from Doveridge as I plan on getting across there over the chrismas period Cheers
chris t
10 miles away, not very far. Am hopeing to get over to them to try out a Benelli Vinci sometime soon. Am expecting my fac variation back anytime now... (if they've processed it correctly) Chris
eredel
Many thanks for the replies people...much appreciated. Looks like I'll have to handle them to chose. Eric.
Salop Matt
I just spoke to i think it was Matt at Doveridge gun room about the Winchester sx3 and he said they wont stock them as they had one that was broken and browing wouldnt sort it out and replace what was clearly a manufacturing problem under warrenty! but they could get one in at £850. What they sell and stock tends to be Berrettas and Benelli`s ! For me customer service / aftersales is important so if browning are awkward when it comes to this area then i will be staying away from browning products and by default also winchester ! Shame really
killer_pigeon
seeing as you own a browning already, try out the maxus semi, you may well be surprised
