Spiderdude
Juat watching this documentary and I can't recall seeing one as emotive, gripping & emotional for a long time. These guys were the true definition of warriors and a throwback to the gladiators of days gone by. Wonderfully sad programme if that makes sense. mrfoxbuster
Great programme, mcclellan came up against a hugely determined benn that night, I was quite shocked about the dog fighting that gman was involved in, if you haven't already google it, it makes interesting reading
mr who?
I remember watching the Gman V's Benn fight when it was on live . Benn took a hell of a hiding in the first round , and did really well to stay of his feet . The remaining rounds are something that will stay with whoever watchs the fight , boxing at its best , and sadly also at its worst . Andy . marnold
I actually found it quite sad watching this! The determination from both was incredible - just a shame it had to end with such a tragedy
t jack
a very good documentry, there is also a book about the fight "war baby" its a very, very good read, tells you a lot more about the fight and the fighters and those around thems lives  It was a real shame the preparation the G-man had in the run upto the fight, let down by trainers and those whoe were supposed to be looking after his interests, expcept all they were interested in was their own pockets, some of the stuff is crazy, for a world title fight, Gerlad wrapped his own hands  the has been described as "if hands are wrapped correctly you can punch through walls, if done wronlgy, youd have candy floss for fists" perhaps why the G-man who had stopped 90% of his previous oppositon in under 2 rounds, couldnt drop Benn for a 10 count? Well forgetting the first round where he should have been counted out in the first Many suspect the G-man sufferd damage before this fight, and this fight only exposed what was already there? Sad stuff regardless, Benn was never really the same after it and the G-man is pennyless and forgotten in boxing circles by most, as most fighters dont want reminded as to what can happen.......... as marnold states, i too found it a sad watch.......... unapalomablanca
I watched it and i think that if mcclelland had not received the brain injury he would have won. He was very unlucky because all the medical regulations had been tightened up after the eubank v watson disaster and everyone was ready for the next brain haemorrage, the oxygen, doctors, ambulance ready to go and neurosurgeon on standby. It shows that sometimes accidents will happen and there is nothing anyone can do. I will always be pro-boxing but i wouldnt want any boy of mine doing it. Muddy Funker
Watched the fight on tv live and just watched this doc, pretty heartbreaking stuff. Warriors like McClellan don't deseserve to end up like that regardless of anything. I actually emailed his Sister a couple of years ago wanting to make a regular donation but heard nothing back, at the time his website hadn't been updated in years so I didn't want to send money to a random account without knowing it would go to him. I'm sure the promoters were happy with the money they made, ******* leeches.
bullet boy
McClennan was an awesome boxer. His sister is now looking after him but I'm not being funny you'd think he'd be living in nicer home than what we saw, wouldn't you? Gillaroo
Felt sad for Benn and McClellan's family but not one tiny ounce of pity for McClellan himself if the taping up of the labs mouth is true? Dog fighting SCUM! What goes around eh? Mike

t jack
Think his sister admitted he did it so ******* tough **** on him. No pity here regardless of different culture. His sister admitted he was into dog fighting, not the lab story, I'm sorry but I'm saddened by your lack of compassion whether the guy was into dog fighting or not, I wouldn't wish him to be in the state he's in... Gillaroo
That's enough for me. Why should show I compassion for someone who does that. The fight he was in he knew the risks and took his chance. Sadly the dogs didn't have the luxury of that choice. Michael Watson has my sympathy and a nursing friend looked after him so know exactly what he went through.
the hitman
Interesting topic , Benn had a style that McClellan could not cope with , yes Benn should have been counted out in the first round , but Benn landed a lot of hard punches that would have OKd most middleweights.I watched McClellan beat Julian Jackson and thought he resembled Thomas Hearns in his style of fighting , but he never got the chance to as good as Hearns. You have to forget the dog fighting stuff because we don't know the truth.
