Tam Posted December 27, 2011 Report Share Posted December 27, 2011 Went for a look on the foreshore this morning - to be honest I wasn't expecting much with it being such a calm morning & getting told by an old fella going to feed his horses that the ak-ak gunners had been down the night before Watched the sun rise & a few skeins heading either down river or wide & high. I was just about to call it a day when I noticed a small skein headed my way - I was sure they were going to turn at the last minute but they stayed on course As they passed over my right shoulder I slipped the safety & picked the nearest outside Goose - it tumbled from the sky & the dog was straight on it Gave the dog a biscuit & packed it in the game bag for the walk back to my truck. I had intended going for a walkabout for Snipe but the old dog had had enough for one day He's tucked up in his basket now after having a tin of Mackerel fillets in his biscuits Hope the weather cools down a bit so that the Goose will keep to New Years day to add to the Steak Pie, Tatties & Neeps (& I daresay a wee dram to wash it down ) Back to the grindstone for a couple of days but might make it back out on Friday Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
