escortmagnum999
Today i went to a gun shop with a view to buying a pump action shotgun. I walked in and it was fairly quiet so had a look around but couldnt see any on the racks. I asked the shop assistant if they had any that i could have alook at. The bloke looked at me as if i just done something unspeakable to his wife! He was waffling on about how bad they were and how much better off id be with a semi auto i couldnt get a word in edgeways! In the end i walked out, surely they would be happy for the business regardless of what i was buying? Anyway does any1 know of anywhere in the north east/west where i could have a look at some pump actions? cheers
cant hit rabbits 123
Have a look on Gun trader. Should give you an idea of where there are some for sale and you can restrict the search for sales in your area. There's nothing wrong with a good solid pump action. Its alot more versatile than a semi auto!
Dr_evil
either lakeland guns or malmos Malmo only stock the SXP, lakeland have the SXP, Novas and a remmy 870 However I do feel lakeland are stupidly overpriced……….he was wanting £450 for a battered nova cos he didnt know the difference between it and a supernova

libs
I've noticed this is a common theme with gun shops and stalls at fairs etc. If its not the bloke behind the counter its a random 'regular' who spends more time in the shop than the staff. You would think people want your money at a time like this. I tried to buy a leather slip at the Highclere fair a few years back and ended up stopping the chap mid rant and walking away, weird. cant hit rabbits 123
The two shops I use regularly are both willing to let me make my own decissions on what I want to buy gun wise, although one will always recomend the more expensive version He also gives you the most expensive box of cartridges if you dont specify a make. Tried to charge me £20 for 'two boxes of no.6 in 30 gram'. Never had a rant when I bought the mossberg though looked at multiple pumpers at both shops. Bought the £125 Mossy instead of the £400 Remmy 870 though.
Browning 425 clay hunter
I'm quite interested in this as I'm looking at getting a pump. Escortmagnum which ones you looking at. Anyone got any advice or experience of remmy 870 or mossberg 500,
Dekers
Name and shame the shop!! There are a lot like it, so it doesn't really matter, there is commonly an attitude of trying to sell you what they have got rather than what you want. It has to be said as well, that many RFD do actually know considerably more than those who walk in off the streets, MANY DON'T though! ATB! Anyone got any advice or experience of remmy 870 or mossberg 500, I have had both the 870 and mossberg they are good reliable guns but for me has to be the 870,bought mine last year for 399 new comes with one choke, normally half they have served the test of time unlike the stuff from turkey,
escortmagnum999
Thanks for help, im based in the Tyne valley, Hexham area. The shop i went to is in northumberland, i wont name them but i couldnt belive how unhelpful they were. Iv bought guns from them before without any problems. I would rather handle a few before i commit to buying one, would probably prefer an older mossberg or remington.

Simon123
TBH what the H*ll's the point of visiting a shop that doesn't acquire or even listen to the customer's need's. Total TOOL of a shop worker/owner if you ask me
cant hit rabbits 123
In what way mate Well, they sound better to start with With a pumper, you can cycle any load you like without worring, unlike 21 gram loads in a semi auto which may well jam up. In my experience they are lighter and make better field guns for walk about sessions and they are alot quicker to load and un-load than an auto. Advantages over a double barrel is the single sighting plane (Compared to a side by side) and the extra capacity. They are also less suseptable to dirt and grime and are easier to maintain. Hope that explains it. Edited January 4, 2012 by cant hit rabbits
Breastman
I got my Supernova from Weldon Gun Room and they had Remmy's and Mossbergs in at the time. Bradford Stalker near Chester-le-Street have pumps in now and again too Mark Edited January 5, 2012 by Breastman

cant hit rabbits 123
A fantastic idea! I did have a race once and beat a Hatstand and a Fabarm. I shall have another race soon and see if another auto can beet me.
oscarsdad
I will see if my camera is suitable....don't forget my maxus has the speed load system so all three carts go in te same place and I don't have to chamber one or release the bolt... cant hit rabbits 123
I had in fact forgotten about that. I expect then with a maxus you may well win a race!
oscarsdad
Haha! Well I will concede that the maxus Is probably the exception though.
cant hit rabbits 123
I only won because they have to faf about with the bolt release catch and because its alot easier to feed the magazine of a mossberg 600 than an S/A with the spring loaded flappy thing(Feed tray, in hind sight). How is the maxus by the way? They look to be good guns. Edited January 5, 2012 by cant hit rabbits
oscarsdad
Maxus is a brilliant gun. I love it. It is a shame I can't use it on my beaters day soon as it fits me so well.
