We have some celebrations going on over the Jubilee weekend (Early June), 3 days in all and one of those days is to be a countryside day, already 90% arranged are;

Clap pigeon, 50 bird sporting

Have a go clay pigeon

Gymkhana

Have a go horse ride

Air rifle comp (poss hft)

Have a go air rifle range

(fun) Dog show

Sheep race :blink:

Wellie throwing comp

Village history display

And for some stalls

Refreshments/jam/cake from the local church group

Farmers market

I'm interested to hear of other ideas for events / attractions and especially stalls, what you you like to see at such an event. If your in the area and would like to have more details or have a display / stall then please do ask ;) 20 mins from Chester on the A55 corridor

Ferret Roulette. Plastic dustbin with some straw in it 8 or 10 holes at the bottom piece of plastic drain coil approx 3ft long from each hole number the drain coil 1 to 8 depending on how many you have. The punters get a ticket with a number 1 to 10 £1 per ticket put the ferret in the bin the number the ferret sticks its head out wins half the money to the winner half to the house good money earner we used to let our young ferreters do it and the money went to the upkeep of the ferrets or you could put it to a charity.

Haha...love it, great idea.. :good:

Know anyone with a couple of 'tame' birds of prey that could do a bit of a display?

We do all the scurries for Basc midlands area..Long retrieve is a very popular one and draws a crowd, dummy fired from a Lite launcher anywhere from 30 to 80 yards dep on the dogs... dog has to run out and bring it back..fastest dog wins it, its primarily a gundog event but any dog can have a try..lurchers are quite good . Were about is your event?

just to add if you ain't got that sort of room...the bales jumps are good too..basically 4 or 5 bales about 6 to 8ft apart but fenced of into a straight run so the dogs cant go around..dog gets to see a dummy/ball chucked into the last compartment..has to jump the bales and make the retrieve..again fastest dog...usually most dogs can do this as the owners can go with them along the side if they want...this type of dog will never win it though :lol:
