docholiday
Save your money and buy shell decoys, cant see any advantage to them, wouldnt like to carry 40 of those whilst shells are easy. can imagine them rolling over in any wind. like his pigeon carrier though doc Edited February 10, 2012 by docholiday
Cosd
How different are they from FUD's regards the photo realism? I personally wouldn't touch full body decoys other than for lofting, you'd need two sacks to carry 24 of them. I'd have the FUD's over these all day long. Just my opinion! chrispti
I think they look better than the FUD's, as they at least look like a pigeon from above! I have used FUDS, shells, full bodied, fleicoys and silo sock decoys. I have had good and bad days using each of them. They all worked as good as each other, provided you've done your home work. My advice, if you can keep some dead birds in a freezer, use them. If not, then flocked shells are as good as any other decoy and are cheaper! 20 Shells on spring sticks and spend the rest on cartridges

turbo33
Cheap shells are fine, just repaint them with a pot of slate grey, white for the neck flashes, bit of black for the folded wing veiw...get tester sized pots of matt from the well known DIY stores. If you spend a bit of time with a dead pigeon alongside to copy, you wont get any more realistic unless you use real ones.
motty
I think the pros are a good decoy. They certainly work, but not necessarily any better than flocked shells or fuds. I have had mine for over a year ( 10 of) and i shot a bag of 340 whilst using them last october ( with fuds and flocked shells). They won't blow over in wind if you make a decent stake for them. I agree with yick and chrispti - i too have had good and bad days with all my different types of decoy, and if the birds really want to be there it really doesn't matter too much what decoys you use. stripey999
If they folded down or were stackable like the shells then they would more likely be a serious contender. Needing 2 sacks to carry 24 and the extra weight plus cost mases them only usefull if you can drive to every hide spot and money isnt an issue for you. They do look good though. Tis1979
Flocked shells all day long there light to carry they last and add movement to the pattern with spring sticks, what more could you want.

chrispti
They really aren't heavy at all. They aren't expensive either. 20 pro decoys will cost around £120 compared £60 for the same amount of flocked shells.

fenboy
Must admit I have been looking at these decoys , just brought a flocking kit to tart up my existing shells but if that fails I may take the plunge. the cost is relative if they are quality and last , with flocked shells for instance the coating will eventually wear away so perhaps they are cheaper in the long run. Motty what are the pro decoys like for shining ? are they a matt finish.

Matt Gould
i personly use a few shells not evern the flocked ones just enough to get me a few dead birds, then use them they are the official pro decoys IMO

Motty what are the pro decoys like for shining ? are they a matt finish. They do have a slight shine, but not sure if that really matters. The point i'm making about flocked decoys is the cheap ones are poor quality. I've had some pinewood flocked shells for many years (relatively expensive) and the flocking is some of the best i've seen and hasn't worn off at all. My mate recently bought some uksw decoys for £3 each and i was less than impressed - the flocking will wear quite quickly i think. In many instances, you get what you pay for. Matt Gould
i don't evern use floaked coated shells, just the standard painted ones. seem to work okay might get a few pro's at some point just so i have pretty much every style decoy avalible then
