fragmenting airgun pellets

There used to be a Crossman 'shotgun' air rifle that shot three BB's at the same time, the only thing that I can think of that might suit what you're asking for.

But I wouldn't be using one of them for vermin, seemed almost like a novlety thing really... in fact I doubt if they're being still made.

Agree with most of the above, you've got a better chance of a clean kill if you use a single pellet, and put it in the right place. :good:

The Crossman was a novelty gun indeed. OK for tin can shooting but live quarry would be out of the question. I would imagine fragmenting pellets would be a nightmare to manufacture, and I really couldn't see the point in them.

ok also another question i have a tin of purple wasps in .22 there domed and 5.5mm as opposed to 5.6mm and i was wondering are these eley wasps or some other brand of wasps that im not aware of thanks

yes they are eley wasps they did a 5.5mm because it suited some of the german made barrels better than the 5.6mm one which was ideal in bsa and webley guns at the time.

If you bought them recently they will be Bisley Wasps. They are jsut 5.5mm Wasps as opposed to 5.6mm Wasps. They are not a patch on the old Eley Wasps - they are pretty poor quality wise.

There are lots of 'which pellet for which gun' threads on here if you do a search!

In .177 you can get Norica Killers. They expand more than anything I've seen and are ideal for soft quarry such as rats at up to 20 metres. The difference between a conventional dome point pellet and a NK is shown here;

Apple shot with a Norica Killer through a 10.5 ft/lb air rifle;

Interestingly they don't go through tin cans so are safe to shoot in barns and where damage from stray shots needs to be limited.
