EdSolomons
miles better bet than a Hatsan! ;-) But id look at a well used 390 series if i were you.
Thunderbird
Yep I've got one, it's a 28" barrel and choked to about a quarter. Lovely gun and incredible pedigree. You can't go wrong for the money IMO.
ME
I have got a Remmy 1100. Never had any problems. Had a secondhand Beretta Urika before and it jammed like a jammything. It's all subjective. You'll no doubt hear good and bad. Hatsan stay consistent though! BAD!!! Edited March 16, 2012 by ME
Thunderbird
The vitol gas seals are about 50p on ebay too
tweedledee
have saw enough of escorts to put me off buying one.beretta no doubt top guns but maybe a little more than i want to spend this time.uses for all my guns starting to wear thin with her indoors. seems a well looked after example so i may just take a gander at it
Thunderbird
Go for it, the older ones seem to go for about £200-350 depending on age, type, condition etc. Mine is from 1982 and whilst I like it I don't mind it getting muddy etc. I have taken it wildfowling a few times too. Canis
I was looking for quite some while for a left handed action 1100,but couldn't find a cheap one and ended up buying a "well abused" L H A benelli that came my way very very cheaply. Any gun that has a production run pretty much without modification for decades and is still made is going to be a good honest performer.(no doubt some pedant is going to come up with an example of useless gun that was made for decades (space for tin hat icon) Most 1100's where made in the pre multichoke era and that may put off some buyers. The R/H one i borrowed on a skeet layout a couple of months back even cycled 21g cartridges without trouble. For a cheap reliable gun that you dont mind if it gets gets knocked about in the field, look no further
wildfowler.250
I like them but I've heard the jam a bit though? Any way of sorting this? What's the vitol gas seal for? ATB
Thunderbird
Mines never jammed and it's 30 years old. The seal is the O ring on the piston.
gemini52
Had two remmies and yes they are good guns but do have down sides, having all steel reciever they can be quite heavy to lug about and parts can be expensive i had a link break it cost 24 quid and i fitted it myself,i think there are better and more reliable guns out there but if its cheap maybe its worth a try. Thunderbird
Don't for heaven's sake let anyone talk you into putting Hull Comp X through it though!
Rimfireboy
I had no problems with mine. It was a 20 bore. Now replaced with a teknys which I prefer but then it was more expensive. If its the right price I'd say buy it.

0145wirbelwind
I have a Remmy 1100 that i have had for over 12 years now . Its a really solid gun for its age. Back then guns were made to last . It will shoot most shell but the bigger the better. I have herd that you need to buy a 15 year old Remmington or older to make sure you get a good one ? Thunderbird
Hull Comp X are total **** In an 1100 they are. At your clay ground on SxS day they are quite nice!
huffhuff
I've got a 10-shot 1100 for the hide and PSG. Great gun. Which reminds me, it needs a clean.

huffhuff
I'd like a go on that! The gun or psg? Either way, it's good fun. The psg gets your heart thumping and feels great rattling off 25 shots on a course of fire. But the 1100 is old school in that sense. It's great in the hide for those occasions when you need that extra one (or two, or three...) for the odd armoured pigeon. The only problem is weight...but I don't mind as it also saves on reloading. I've used it at the clay ground too (with permission and only loading 2). People look a bit confused seeing the arts fly out the side from what looks like a double barrel over/under. The extension tube in half inch longer than the barrel...
Thunderbird
I wondered how long it would be! I saw some people doing PSG the other day, quite a removal from the clays! The club I was visiting have a five-shot, I think. I'll give it a go next time I visit.
