Anyone seen this film?

True story about Gen Hal Moore and photographer Joe Gallaway in the Ia Drang Valley, Vietnam 1965.

Powerful film and it reduced me to tears.

Rob.

Just can't get my head round the unnecessary killing at that time!

Interesting. Good review from IMDB, see the IMDB webby (edited after wrist slapping from admin for linking to inappropriate content).

My wife drove into the back of another car yesterday at a roundabout. The second 100% her fault accident in less than a year. That and the anticipated excess and increase in renewal premium next year reduced me to tears.

Not quite what I was about Mungler!

I was talking about the unnecessary waste of life during the Vietnam War and the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965.

Randall Wallace's film was powerful and indicative of the feeling of the infantry man of those times.

You could say that about *any* war however the Vietnam war is within living memory and so makes it all the more raw and painful.

Not wishing to diminish the severity of the loss of life during the Vietnam war (and all other wars in living memory) however you should feel my pain resultant from the loss of my no claims bonus - that is real, raw and with me right now. I must go and stain my insurance policy documentation with my tears... and then I will go and slap the missus.

Yes i remember an article about him .

Watched the film and It was the stars of the film being bullet proof that let it down ........A recent article revealed that had the Americans gone in with a hearts and minds approach instead of wiping out entire villages on the strenght of intelligence then the War would had lasted no longer than 4 weeks :)

Vietnam pt2 is going on at the mo ............on sand instead of jungle with the same mistakes having been made i feel  ...........can anyone on here see a peacful way out ?

Mine kerbed the front offside alloy the day I got the new audi, the nearside a week later and somehow kerbed the offside rear about 1/4 of the full radius about 3 months ago. I don't let her drive it anymore.

The day I got it, for christs sake  I share your pain.

I think the best vietnam film was born of the 4th July, those that lost their lives in the war were probably the lucky ones in some ways, given the subject matter of the above film :)

***? What "joke" ? I made a comment back to mungler, why by the way doen't get a single mention despite doing what I did not once but twice.

Secondly I did make an on topic comment and I am allowed my opinion even if you don't like it mate, simple as that. Did you even read the comment?

Born on the 4th of July was an Oliver Stone film based on the real life experiences of a guy called Ron Kovic. This guy lost his legs in the line of duty, watched hundreds of his buddies die in the mud and was basically abandoned by said country becuase he was an embarrasment. My comment was based on the fact that I personally would rather have been killed than have to see my mates killed in horrible ways, loose my legs, then get spat on and treated like **** by the people I was supposed to be fighting for.

I personally don't care what you think kirky mate, but if you are going to have a go at someone then at least read the post first.

hi guys being part of any war must be terrible cant begin to imagine the human sacrifice involved.i am proud of our service men and women who leave their families to head to iraq and afghanistan.i hate to hear of our troops being killed out there and if im honest i wonder what and who for. im not a fan of our present government and am beginning to wonder why we send our troops out there for a bunch of arabs but i do back our troops whole heartedly where ever they serve

Oh PIN you are naughty.

kirky640 despite being 2 years old the Vietnam war finished, it must have had a profound effect on you for you to post with such conviction, passion and bad spelling. Perhaps less TV and Stanley Kubrick films would ease your pain.
