better gun? in what way? more money? better looking? i look on shotguns as work horses, a bmw will look nice but they are **** in the winter, rain etc a skoda will go anywhere, anytime and if it breaks is pretty easy to fix, even has a built in hand warmer for when your pushing it, a bmw requires a computer and £400 just to do a light bulb, i think of shotguns as workhorses, land rover or shogun, my escort looks as good, in my opinion, as any brayer, sorry berrrreettttaaaa and doesn't break as easy in my experience.

multi purpose aswell!! fence post, bet it still fired when you pulled it out of the ground!

The 'problem' with them as far as I can see is that the early ones seem to have had a few quality control issues and sometimes used to jam up a lot and chokes came loose resulting in barrels bulging and exploding, giving them a reputation for dangerous problems.

And of course because they are cheap and Turkish people abuse them, never clean them, don't check for the chokes coming loose and expect them to work with short cartridges that aren't designed for semi's and then they moan that they don't work reliably.

There are a lot out there and a lot of happy users (including myself, I have a pump and can't fault it - and I'm not trying to justify buying it as I was given it!).

Most of the Hatsan haters out there have never used or owned one but love to jump on the bandwagon because they are sheep (probably also after regretting spending double the money on another brand that does the same job?!?!).

bought a second hand 712 franchi for less than escort money as new.personally any escort i have lifted feels terrible, any one i knew had one had issues with it.guns that have spares made cheap to throw at them when ever? what does that tell you? well it speaks rubbish to me.i ll take my chance with another 712 where the choke tubes will stay tight and the gun won't fall apart

this is getting erotic now!!!!!!! :good:

no, im not trying to justify buying one, already got one, it gets regular abuse but regular cleaning and gets used a lot more than my other shotguns, it just makes me laugh how quickly people forget that this is where it all starts for lots of people on budgets, 1k shotguns are out of my league until the kids leave home or until i win the lottery, even then i probably wouldn't change............. sx3 you say wifey????

True :good:

I spent £1200 on my Beretta SP3 new a few years back, but after knocking it in the hide, i decided not to take the chance in damaging it so i went out and got a cheap knock about gun.

The Escort as not let me down but now a few years on, I want and can just about get myself a Beretta..

Nothing wrong with them at all Tel Time, put cartridge in, point in the right direction, pull the trigger and hit target!

Gun snobs I tell you, gun snobs!

It makes me larf that people go on about how unreliable the Hatsans are and how they want a gun that doesn't let them down, then the same person on another thread openly admits to loving their Landy even though they spend so much time under the bonnet

Gun snobs I tell you

Mr ST,

I have to agree and disagree with you, of course affordability can come into play, but one could also simply choose not to buy an expensive gun especially if it is going to be used in the hide where you know it will get damaged.
