seen as i have broke the .243 :cry1: i need a new rifle.

suggestions please. must be a new rifle, money no object but i dont want to be selling a body part for one and have plenty of time to save if i need to. it needs to be strong, it is a daily used tool and will be getting knocked about. so strength is paramount. also weights no issue and i like heavy guns.

looking at an A bolt on recommendation from swiss tony but want to look at others aswell. so guns and reviews below please. :thanks:

Tikka T3 Lite, blued barrel. I've had mine for 7 years and it is excellent. Very accurate straight out of the box, and the trigger did not need adjusting. :good:

When I saw Steve's Tikka T3 I simply had to get one!I bought a T3 Lite in .22-250 calibre. It's superb accuracy and beautiful smooth bolt action makes this a very popular rifle indeed!I love mine!

Another option is the Sako 85.

Go for a custom build, you will never look back, and cheaper than you think,if not sako 85 in varmint model,a very accurate factory built rifle.

Settled on a T3. Yep the barrels shot out/corrosion and its £700 for a new Barrel or £735 for a T3. Thanks for the help.

A bolts not available in .243. Or so I've been told

I've all the tools for opening up a T3 barrel/action if you want a custom barrel. This includes a CNC action spanner! I bet you were told the gun has to go back to Finland to do the job but this is NOT the case.

If you find a custom rile chap to do the job but who needs the T3 tools, let me know.

Seconded shots as well as a t3 but without all the plastic bits, I've a finlight and have to say carting it about is a pleasure and I find shooting a sensible weight rifle far easier off sticks.

The weak point of so many new rifles is literally the weak/ floppy stocks. Its not so much a lack of float but INTERMITTENT barrel contact caused by anything but delicate use from varied shooting positions. Most of the actual barrels and actions these days are pretty good to go and throughout the prices ranges on most models if rifle, aesthetic finish and stock type are the only difference. Relative to the value of most rifles available, the stock design and fitting is by far the most important factor, often ignored in the same way that quality mounts, bases and scope fitting is.

Ah I see. The laminate is a slightly more solid stock whcih gives better results. Thanks!
