magman
just got on using the old link are we back for good now?
Cranfield
I don't believe the old link is "stable" yet and so it will behave as before, where you can only get in sometimes. Its best to use the temporary link, until we are told everything is OK again.

plexer
Is there any explanation available as to what happened? I have been suffering from PW withdrawl symptoms for days. Seeing PW spring to life again has brought a smile to my face. webber Webber there was another thread that had an explanation from Teal about what happened. Basically the company that hosts pigeonwatch deleted the dns records for the site. This is what allows you to type in the friendly name i.e pigeonwatch.co.uk and it converts this to the ip address for the server and you get to the site. Without these records the servers on the internet don't know where to send you. Ben
Cranfield
Teal posted this explanation on a thread in "Suggestions and Additions to the Site". "Not good. sorry about this. There was a cock up and we've been let down by a hosting company, they managed to delete the nameservers for the site. Which basically means that whilst the server and pigeonwatch has been running all the time, because the domain name (pigeonwatch) is not pointing to where the files are held, no one can view the site. Hopefully I've managed to do a temporary fix at the moment, so people can actually use the site, by using http://forums.pigeonshooting.co.uk because of what the domain company have done I've now had to send off driving license, and several forms to nominet in order to get the pigeonwatch domain which I own back! God only knows how long this'll take, but needless to say the company we were with are not popular around here all custom I had with them is being transfered elsewhere. Baldrick
Glad to hear you're shifting the custom elsewhere. The hosting company sounds like a bunch of cretins.

webber
In desperation to find out what had happened to PW, I visited airgunbbs, not a site I have previously frequented. Many thanks to the person who posted the link to PW on there. Many thanks for the explanation, although most of the computer techno stuff is beyond me. I get the drift that the hosting company cocked up good style. webber glad to be back, even without avatar.
Andy75
:s I was getting worried about PW too - I had to trawl to the 12th page of AirgunBBS to find a fix. Hope all goes well with the transfer to a new host - not sure whom you use, but I use http://www.webfusion.co.uk/ quite a bit for customers new accounts, and they've been 100% great. Now hoping that you're not going to tell me it was webfusion that have produced the DNS **** up!
