Little_Dom
i've currently got a bsa lightening xl but i'm fancying a change to pcp what would you guys recommend? budget of roughly £
secretagentmole
Well what do you need? Is the £500 for everything? IE gun, scope, silencer, bipod, charging system? What calibre do you prefer? Rifle or Carbine? What manufacturers do you like or dislike? (ie are you a brand snob?). Starting points, multishot pcp rifle, reliable, accurate, low cost, new, Hatsan AT44 or BT 65. Secondhand, you can get BSA Ultras (great guns, lousy cocking systems), Air Arms S200s (great for people with small arms), BSA Super 10s (the poor man's Rapid), Daystate X2s, PH6s, the list is endless! Little_Dom
sorry forgot to mention half of those points £500 is for just the rifle and prefer 22 calibre also not bothered bout the brand

topshunt
Air arms s400 or s410. £500 will get you brand new s400 with change or mint secondhand s410, s200 also very good rifle for £350 ish. Imho you will not be dissapointed with any of these rifles. But i'd get to the shop shoulder as many as possible and also try if you can. chrisjpainter
If it's rifle only you could get a nearly new Air Arms S510, which I would recommend very highly! It's a carbine and the side cocking action is a breeze to use. Doesn't seem pellet fussy and the now to a double cylinder version which gives you a massive shot count, but kind of spoils the looks a bit! Would definitely have a play with one if you can! No idea why they're not more popular than they are; never heard anyone say a bad word against them. how long before someone tries to get you to buy an HW100... secretagentmole
Well I have an HW100 in .22 and it is very good, shot count on a Super 10 is much better though I would recommend BSA Super 10, Daystate X2, HW100, all 3 are very good rifles! All 3 are accurate and reliable! Edited May 13, 2012 by secretagentmole
secretagentmole
The Ultra is a great gun let down by a lousy cocking system! If you want a nice shiny new rifle, how about a Hatsan AT44 or BT65 or BR65 (T side bolt, R rear bolt)! These are the low end of the medium price range, but well built, accurate and reliable! NIGHT SEARCHER
Hatsan AT 44 10w you should get for £295 and the BT65 you can get for £399. Both come with 2 x 10 shot mags and are both brilliant and fitted with wolther match barrels. I get 10p groups at 50 yds with my 44. Have a look at air gun tv on the web. They have just done a field test on the BT65. Theres loads on you tube on the AT 44 and the BT 65 the BT65 has been out in Europe for over 3 years. Then just google air gun shops in your area or phone Edger brothers thats the sole importer and ask them what is the nearest gun shop they supply to you. The prices i have stated are for the synthetic stocks the wood stocks are a bit more but look stunning and i like a nice piece of wood. The synthetic stocks are a lot lighter the wood ones are a bit on the heavy side. Edited May 13, 2012 by NIGHT SEARCHER
secretagentmole
There was no issues with mine, and the speed I could let the shots off was unreal Yes once you are used to it, there has been more than one ultra bogged up by the infamous, load, fore, no pop, what the? reload, mmc then fire 2up! But for speed I bet you cannot compete with a side lever AT44 or HW100! No MMC it have to actuate! bruno22rf
Shop around and you might find a Walnut stocked S410,I would go for a .177.If you cannot hunt well with one of these then no gun is gonna help!! Keep it looked after and chances are you will lose very little if you go mad and decide to sell it

IXI KARL IXI
just had a look at the hatsan website (not edgar brothers) and like the look of both the at44 and bt65 would you have any idea of prices (roughly)and would anyone know of a north east dealer? I couldn't find a dealer in the NE region, people where saying that hatsans where a canny gun for the money. But a load of people saying they are rubbish so I wanted to have a look and feel for myself.but couldn't. It's like everything re air rifles, people have there favourite brands. i would just go to shop with some in mind and have hold of the guns see how they feel. i was going to get a tx200 after reading about them, nearly bought one second hand and was going to get it posted, glad i didnt tho. went to the shop and was looking about had a hold of them and didnt like it, ended up with a HW97 instead. I like the look of the BSA ultras and scorpions had hold of them both (not shot them) and they feel really good.
Davyo
bougth my son the new bsa ultra se multi shot, with the new rear bolt cocking action, it is a beautiful compact silent gun.I shoot SG/ FAC/AIR & RIMMY but totaly love taking the ultra out (sub 12ib)
secretagentmole
Hatsan over a BSA ultra haha you must be joking No I have owned both and the Hatsan was about £200 more well engineered than the BSA Ultra. I am talking about the mark 1 Ultra by the way...
