ack-ack
Had a letter from the council today to see if I wanted to register an interest in a proposed dump for Nuclear waste under the Marsh. It will be a catacomb between 100-200 metres below GL and once operational should have minimal impact but the construction phase will be pretty intense. No mention of where the spoil will go as yet either. Part of me is thinking this is a consolation prize to the shelved Dungie C which had broad support and they should stick it up their ***** but the other part is open minded. It will create lots of work but it's a specialist gig and as such I wonder how much work will actually go they way of the locals. Any opinions on this gents? PS its on local news shortly

Conygree
Hi Ack-Ack, my wife comes from that area, it's unspoilt and peaceful. I can't see how it will ever be the same after being 'dug-up'. It's not a trade off for the nuke-c, oppose it and get some concessions if nothing else. They wouldn't put it in the Windrush valley - the PM's home. poorpeet
Unspoilt and peaceful......apart from the two ******* great nuclear power plants and Lydd airport.

Robin128
The safest place to store nuke waste is in clay...doesn't Weald Clay sit under Romney Marsh? The best clay for this purpose as I recall is right underneath London...ie London Clay. NIMBY! All we have to worry about down here is Fracking. Edited May 18, 2012 by Robin128

Doc Holliday
Ah the mini railway! Not been on that for years. Neither have I but the memory remains what an uncomfortable and, at the time, chilly journey it was. I dragged Mrs H on it back when we had our cocker spaniel, some recompense for all the bloody psychic shows she had taken me to. We got a return ticket from Dungeness to Hythe and it was the longest, most uncomfortable, draughty trip we had taken. Anyway, apologies Ack-ack, didn't mean to hijack your post. I think they can stick it where the sun don't shine and I've heard there ain't much sunshine in North East. Or... we could sell in to the Greeks. Either way, Not In My Back Yard! At least it would be if I live there, but I'm not that far off and I like that part of the Southeast corner.

Well next time you've a few hundred quid spare and fancy being crammed in to a rattling shoebox full of other peoples farts and noise why not give it another go for old times sake Neither have I but the memory remains what an uncomfortable and, at the time, chilly journey it was. Thats why I like it though. Unfortunately the whole place seems to be getting bought out by 'media types' who are sanitising the place bit by bit and robbing it of its bleakness. It used to look like a foresaken land in the nicest possible way. Now it looks like a ***'s conurbation.
