Blunderbuss
I'm toying with the idea of buying some reloading bits n pieces from the US. Equipment rather than bullets or other components. Not sure what exactly, it depends on the economics such as postage/duty/exchange rate, but possibly some electronic scales, a case trimmer and a few other small sundries. Any pitfalls? Recommended suppliers (I'm thinking Cabelas)?
cleaner4hire
Sinclair's are very good, I've bought a lot of reloading bits from them with no problems. Just be aware of getting stung for tax when it arrives in the UK.

fortune
Not only will you probably have to pay the import vat on the item but when Royal Mail deal with it this end they send you a letter to notify you that it has arrived and how much they have had to pay the tax man but they also charge you a handling fee of (Can't remember exactly) about £10 to notify you of this fact. This handling charge is added to the tax amount and you hve to pay them before they deliver the item to you. I imported a mec 9000 reloader from the States and this is what happened to me. What with the shiping and the insurance and the tax /handling it bites into the price a bit but it was still cheaper than buying it here. cooter
If it is sent FEDEx they deliver it to you then send you the duty/tax bill after. I use http://www.cliffsgunsmithing.com/index.html for most of the bits I buy.

njc110381
Me and Phil are doing an order from Cliffs soon. If you want to have a look on his site and let us know what you want then perhaps we can share the postage? We can get a shoe box sized package up to 20lb sent here for $48. Between three of us that's pretty cheap.

Blunderbuss
Events over took me with this. I ended up travelling to he US with work. I bought a charge master, new press, case trimmer and a load of other stuff back in my hand/hold luggage. I saved over 200 quid on the charge master alone! fruitloop
you also get charged tax on the postage i got a liyman tumbler conversion sent over $26.16 (£16 ) for the item $24 (£14 ish) then when it gets into rip off Brittan thay add another £16 for tax on the lot including the handling fee which was £6ish the grand total came to £48 for a £16 item . i phoned the inland revnue and asked them if a mistake had been made and there was and they owed me £4 back but was told anything under £5 cant be calmed .i wonder if that works the opposite way to but was told if the item was worth less than £15 it is not taxable .so ask for the declaration to be less than £
