lxtav
Didn't mean to start a huge discussion on the legality of buying cartridges just thought there were several other better places he could have left them i.e the stables which are unlocked rather than a greenhouse on one of the hottest days so far. Other than this very small point the service was great and came when they said they would. Great deal from them as I got an extra £5 of the bin end price. I can get cartridges at about the same price locally but due to how far away the gun shops are around here the cost of the diesel negates any savings. matone
I would have thanked the guy for using common sense and saving me the hassle of having to either wait for another delivery or collect them from god knows where. It would have been a bit different if you lived in a block of flats or terraced house in the city. +1 !
gemini52
There is no law governing the safe storage of shotgun cartridges. Nor do you need to provide your SGC to buy or acquire cartridges - so they're more than welcome to ignore your email. I buy cartridges from north wales shooting school and there is no way they will sell them to you with out seeing your ticket,i was told its a request from the home office cant confirm this as true but thats the way it is. snowblind66
I bought some from them before and was out when they delivered but my wife was in. She showed the courier my cert and a letter stating I authorise her to take delivery of the cartridges. The response from the courier was and I quote: "thanks for that love but I have no idea what a shot gun certificate is supposed to look like"

SakoQuad
I wish my postman would learn to use the same level of common sense! Have to say I wouldn't be looking to drop the guy in it for probably doing you a favour though it might be worth asking him to do something different next time. That sort of initiative should be encouraged. I have had 2 deliveries from JC - on the paperwork it says SGC MUST be shown to delivery driver, whether they ask or not. On both occasions the drivers had no idea why I was offering them my certificate and both said they weren't aware they were expected to see it and that it was the first time ever anyone had mentioned it! Tin Man Work
Top marks to the courier for making the right decision to leave the consignment, we have a couple of couriers here that are as good as that, and many that are very sub standard when it comes to making a delivery; one case I waited in for a delivery, no knock or anything, and then a missed delivery card part slipped into the letterbox. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
kent
Just had a a 1000 Hull Comp X delivered by the courier company from Just Cartridges (first time i have used them). Delivery driver came in the 15 minutes that I was out picking the wee man up from nursery. Came back to him returning as he had forgotted to leave a parcel for my wife he was also delivering. He handed it over and as he left said there are 4 more in the greeenhouse. Went over to find he had left the 4 slabs of cartridges in the greenhouse. While I am in the country, have good neighbours and you cannot see the greenhouse from the road as it is behind the house I have a problem with him doing that. I know we have said to him to just leave parcels either in the greenhouse or the barn, which would have been slightly better than a greenhouse, but not cartridges. It is pretty obvious fromt the box what they are and the label says "CUSTOMER MUST SHOW CERTIFICATE" and "SIG MAND" (take it this means signature mandatory for delivery). Now wondering if I should drop the courier company an E-Mail pointing this out to them. Don't want to get the driver into bother as he is young, decent guy trying hard to make a living but think he maybe needs a bit of advice regarding this. I know they don't have to be locked up and so on but just imagine the conversation as well when I phone up saying "Hello is that the police I would just like to report a 1000 shotgun cartridges have just been stolen from my unlocked greenhouse". I would imagine my FEO would be in his car coming to the house before the call was finished. Unfortunatly common. I have had firearm componant parts left under next doors bench when i lived in town and i do know a large RFD who had a sizeable delivery of firearms left with a neighbouring hairdressers, when he called to collect on the sat morn they were stacked up inside and some ladys were resting thier feet on the boxes . The drivers view these things as simply packages and have targets to meet on a similar vein i had an expensive coffee machine marked fragile thown over a 6ft gate when the driver found me out I actually think its quite good they dont know whats in the boxes (or care)

His face dropped when i opened the door and he brought it back as promised at the end of his round appologising profusely incase i reported him
