Rickyard shooter
Hi i have 200 poults in my pen plenty of cover nice pen. Trouble is picked up 28 poults all with no heads found small hole in fence if it was a fox it was very small to get through hole and we have good trip wire and working fine. Does anyone know what could have done this. Many thank for any info.
larp
check the hole in your pen for hair that mite help a fox can get in a very small hole . tawny owl will take the heads of . are there any teeth marks on the birds you can some times smell a fox on the dead birds
JDog
Hedgehogs often eat just the heads, so do mink and stoats.
duke hamish
We had a full grown fox squeez through a two inch square top net hole ti get to laying birds, I know because I snared it on TOP of the corner post.

JMart
If it was only 1 or 2 I would say Tawny owl. But not 28......... Young fox would be my prime suspect.

Paul223
nah i'd go with tawny too, 28 easy take a tawny about two two half hours, nice bit of practice for them
Alycidon
I would agree with a tawny owl, 28 is though excessive. Charlie would take some of the kills out through the fence leaving a trail of feathers. I have seen a fox slip easily through a 4 inch square mesh on some sheep fencing, he came to my call and I nailed it. Might be a case of sitting and watching with a couple of tools to hand.
