fo5ter
This is not insider information as its now on the BBC website... Any and Tracey Ferrie from Welby will not face any charges for firing at intruders. Offenders have also been named! An excellent day for everyone! Paul T
Just read it and that's good news. I just hope the police are equally forgiving when it comes to certificate renewal time

archiebald
I should hope not, they where only defending themselvs against 4 possibly violent burgalers and by the sounds of it miles away from police help. They wouldent think anything of it in america!
Harnser
I think that result was a for gone conclusion . I wouldnt want to be the person who had to find a jury that would convict them of any charges against these thugs . The enquiry went to the due process of law and the DPP has deemed it would not be in the interest of the public to charge them . Remember that when an incident like this happens the police have to make througher investigation ,after all two men have been shot . wether or not they should have been on the open licence is a matter of opinion . Gordon R
It is proper that an investigation was done and seen to be done. The right result.

Reece
Just read it and that's good news. I just hope the police are equally forgiving when it comes to certificate renewal time I would have thought so. After all, they haven't been charged with anything. For those who haven't seen the article, here it is.
JonathanL
Well blow me! that is great news, I take it all back... will now be interesting to see if he keeps his ticket! I can't see any grounds to pull his cert. The CPS aren't charging him. It cannot have an effect on a future renewal because if he is an way unfit then the police should pull his cert straight away if that is the case. J. Heard it on the news, hopefully the burglars get justice too! One has already made a guilty plea. Seems that he was on bail at the time of the burglary! J. scimitar
Heard it on the news, hopefully the burglars get justice too! Unless the judge is from teeside then he'll probably praise the burglars for their courage in facing an armed man.

Coolhead
The CPS accepted that they believed themselves to be in serious personal danger. In that situation a non-lethal discharge of a gun is certainly not in the public interest to prosecute. I think things would have been different back in the Labour days. On a Sunday politics program this morning there was one of those psycho liberals who, referring to this, said that you can't hurt people who break in because no-one is fundamentally bad but must have been driven to it by a hard life ! She made a complete fool of herself and even the presenter took the P.
njc110381
I was really pleased when I heard this news. The shots weren't lethal, from the sound of things the wounds weren't that serious. A firearm is a perfect tool to stand your ground with even if the rounds don't connect.
