Should claimants be paid vouchers to stop spending on 'vices'?

Maybe the benefits should be JUST ENOUGH to live on so there is no spare money for beer, cigs and holidays.

I've often thought that. I know a few on benefits who are better off than other friends who work. I've got nothing against helping people who can't work but why should they be able to afford luxuries that many working class folk can't?! It's a bit of a p*** take for those who do work for the minimum wage to have to see how well off some people on the sick can actually be.

i think we should have a two (or more) tier system, acknowledging if and for how long/how much people have paid into the system, with the most draconian measures reserved for those who have paid nothing in (but expect to get something back) For these people i think they should be given next to no cash, (food rations etc) and have to turn up for some type of 'work' four days a week. the remaining day can be used to look for better paid work. (just like anyone who actually works has to do)

council house provision should be linked to people paying into the system, so if you have never worked, but managed to churn out lots of children, then you will have to make do with whatever is availible.

I think alot of people dont know how the benefits system works and just see headlines like "a person on benefits gets 26 odd K a year" or whatever it is. The reason you always see scumbags smoking/drinking/drugging their money away is because the government automatically pay for the things that normal peoples wages go on like rent/council tax/paying for kids/health care things like that.

The idea of vouchers is laughable how on earth would that work? where would vouchers be valid? how would food vouchers pay the rent, elecy, bus fare, petrol or all the other things in life you have to pay for, If someone just had food vouchers you'd just end up with a load of homeless fat people.

You cant base it on how much you have "paid in" either, what about a disabled child? or someone whos just starting out in life then some moron runs em over.

The real real problem with the benefits system is it only benefits scumbags who dont take responsibility for themselves. Instead of the government pandering to idiots then ruining everyone's life they need to stand up and say "your 16 and pregnant? tough thats your problem, your from some other country and want our health care? tough, you have a drugs problem and cant get a job so want us to give you a house and money in your pocket? ill take out an article in big whoop magazine" then start from there :)

I have said it before...for the career claimants there is a solution with which I can help solve global warming, obesity and scrounging...

work houses - exercise machines linked up to generators which provide power to the national grid. benefits only paid when the required number of kW are generated by each claimant.

this will help them to lose weight and keep fit, will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and will mean that they actually have to do some work to earn their keep.

you could even take it one stage further by installing some sort of **** collecting device, therefore preventing methane from contributing to global warming and also allowing it to be burnt to generate further electricity.

you know it makes sense

There is plenty of work to be done in this country, Road sweeping is now done every two weeks on my street that should be daily. Local railway stations now the night time haunts of drinking teens could do with supervision. Buses would be better with conductors instead of safety cells for the drivers. Police could be bolstered and start patrolling the streets again. Hospital cleaning could be more effective, the list is endless. But no we bolster the profits of multinationals by supplementing their megre wages with tax credits and contract them for **** service exploiting people on the minimum wage and keep people on the dole doing nothing. It doesn't take a genius to give everybody at least 10 hours work a week each to put something back into society.

A couple i know who are long term benefit scroungers have just returned from a 2 week all inclusive holiday to egypt with 10000 cigs. How is this system fair? Bring in vouchers and take away the continual hand outs to lasy winy work scroungers

Solution? Make a phone call and grass them up!

I'm no more keen on the idea than most, but, people have got to stop sitting back, whingeing but doing nothing.

I have repeatedly reported one benefits cheat / tax dodger over a period of several years because he is a thorn in my side. I have given them proof beyond reasonable doubt but to date nobody has ever got back to me and his activities do not appear to have been curtailed in any way.

Same here been reporting one of our competitors (single mother with 3 kids) for not paying tax or VAT forever. I know one of her suppliers and he showed me how much she buys so she was to be VAT registered. Well she is now inher 10th year of trading.
