Paul223
Only thing that stops my gun from getting rusty on the foreshore is http://www.acf-50.co.uk/acf-50.htm Tip from PW use it on all guns now including actions Acf50 is great stuff!, highly recommended
Big Al
Thanks guys. Looks like I''ll be getting acf50. I do shoot in the foreshore, but I should have said that Lough Neagh.is fresh water. It is a big lake (the largest in the British Isles) but is fresh water thankfully. -Mongrel-
ACF50 is used a LOT om motorcycles. A quick scan on ebay shows two bike outlets selling it at sub £15.00 incl postage. Edited September 15, 2013 by -Mongrel-
fruity
Thanks Ben. I''ll go for that. Just to add if its stored in a cold place its a nightmare to use , so put it in a bucket of warm water couple hours before you use or store in a warm place in the house and goes on a treat with no waste

brent52
why not just take it to your local gunsmith and have it stripped and serviced ?
Big Mat
why not just take it to your local gunsmith and have it stripped and serviced ? Why would you pay money to do something you can do easily yourself? The gun has only had a little dip in some water, i had mine apart the other day as it had water inside it. Big Al
why not just take it to your local gunsmith and have it stripped and serviced ? Fair question. I don't feel I need to. I don't think it's such a big deal. I have been through the same thing a number of times with a semi auto. The difference this time is that once I put the stock back on an o/u isn't as easy to keep an eye on what's happening in the action. It becomes a sealed unit again, so to speak. That, and the fact that it is my Browning!
gazbev
It's silicone based,it displaces water but no better than any gun cleaning oil,we are not allowed to use it on any mechanisms at work because I'm told it gums up. If it were me I would go with the normal gun cleaner once the stock is off and strip out the ejectors, then lightly oil with 5w 30 synthetic engine oil

Low temperatures?
utectok
Maybe I dunno but all I know is every other oil I used resulted in rust problem after a trip or two on the foreshore but with acf 50 no problems with rust spots

-Mongrel-
Wd40 WD40 Not that I've experienced to be honest, but I'll say again. I use it as a cleaner which is wiped off then the gun is oiled and greased.
