bicykillgaz
Not a fowler myself but what about nikwax spray or clear nail varnish on the brass and a couple drops of melted candle wax on the crimp?
-Mongrel-
After dropping numerous carts in the mud last season, I've now taken to keeping half a dozen loose in a waterproof pocket of my jacket. The rest are in resealable bags, 6 to a bag, and these are in turn in a waterproof box. At least if you open the box and then drop it , your carts are still clean and dry. M.I.A
Reading reloading manuals I repeatedly read that the brass is not important to the cartirdige. According to RCBS manual the brass doesnt even need to be there! i think i read that one brand even had an expermiental cartridge that never took off that had no brass at all. Shame really This is true I have some all plastic carts with no brass!
aga man
some fantastic ideas about waterproofing your shells coming up here. why not just dry them out when you return from the flight. dry them out and wipe over with an oily rag. after all it's what you do with your gun and it stops that rusting. This all i have ever done is and there are no rusty shells in my belt. if i happened to submerge steel shot shells in water i would fire them asap or make them safe and discard them

tigger got stichs
the carts you are talking about were made by recorld but still had the primer on show, think thay went out of production in midd 80s
anser2
Do not use WD40. They can losen the primer. I keep mine in a tupperware box and keep half a dozen in my pocket for ready use. If they get wet or show any signs of rusting wipe the heads with 3 in 1 oil. If the rusting is bad then rub the rust off with a fine sand paper. Paladin
Activ cartridges were ALL plastic with a steel reinforcement for the primer molded in the base. I dont know if they are still available either as a hull for reloaders or as a cartridge. Paladin
subsonicnat
Well when taking any metal down the marsh, if you put VASELINE in a pot with a drop of petrol it dries very hard: it does work, but have to be done in advance.lol. Try it:
