Thought id treat myself this week and have a go at some pigeons as i havent been out for such a long time as ive been using my rifle all the time.

Set up at 10 with 12 deeks and a whirley and 250 carts.

Was constantly shooting from when i started to when i finished which was 4.

Managed to shoot 65 pigeons, and 23 various jackdaws and rooks, should of had so many more.

Shot just over 200 carts, so not a brilliant ratio, but hant used the 12 bore for months so cant complain.

The rooks came in straight away before the pigeons as soon as id set up, and there wasnt a crow decoy in sight, they usually fly away from the whirley.

They take some shooting though, tough as nails.

Took me 2 hours to breast them all, all in the freezer for my own consumption, i only tend to give the ferrets them when i havent any rabbits or if i have a litter of kits as its perfect for them to nibble.

a good day out there Tex

better than my bag on Monday i only got 8 pigeons 6 crows i jack and a magpie.

but i still enjoyed the afternoon  only shooting under flight paths though

However i do like to use as many cartridges as possible :good:

as it saves me carrying them back to the car which is normally about 400yards away :/

Got there at 10 and finished at 4, could of stayed longer but i knew i had to breast them all and gut the rabbits we shot the other night.

Think i need to make a trip to simspons in newmarket to get some more .17hmr ammo tomorrow.

:good:

Was thinking about doing another day there, but someone else is shooting it tomorrow so prob wont get many if i did.
