kent
waiting for someone to pattern them first, how much are they?
redfish77
The price weve been quoted is 300 quid a thousand I think.
silver pigeon 3
Very interested to see how people get on with these, not a big fan of Eley cartridges in general though so will take something special to get me to move away from Gamebore 36g 3's
Wildfowler12
I've just read the write up in the BASC mag (page 38) I'm very much looking forward to trying these out! Does anyone have a confirmed price? I've heard between £190-£300 per 1000, the later obvioisly sounding more realistic, this is more or less on par with the 3' mammoths. Although I think they're releasing 2 types, 32g (2 3/4' VIP steel) and a 36g (3' Lightning Steel). The 32g ones might be somewhere around the £200 mark? They'll need to be tested on a pattern plate, but it sounds like they could well replace my gamebore steel loads Edited November 5, 2012 by Wildfowler12
figgy
I'm hoping they pattern good, as we need fast steel at good prices to compete with the American stuff. Figgy
scolopax
Once one company releases US style fast steel in the UK the other companies should follow like sheep. Happy days.
Big Al
I, too, am pretty excited by this. I am looking forward to trying a box of "proper" American-style factory steel loads. I just cant find anywhere that sells 'em!

The Gambore 36grm no.3 produce strike counts in the mid twenties for me out to 40 yds based on a 10" pattern centre with modified and will if i shoot straight drop geese (not my chosen goose shell but they work when pressed). The issue is close up with the no.3 and stike count goes up to 50 at 30yds and can pulverise, opening up the choke and gaining more yet smaller shot in a somewhat wider spead sounds good and with enough speed will still retain the energy required for a clean kill hopefully
Wildfowler12
i am wondering about dropping to a no.4 I was considering doing the same, but I think the lightning only come in 1,3 and 5s. I'm going to contact eley today to try and get some more info.

They already offer no.4 steel in the slower stuff as i have a slab i won here
silver pigeon 3
Kent, i already use gamebore 36g 4's over the splashes for the reason you have said. They are good and give clean kills as long as you keep the range sensible, I have confidence in the gamebore shells so like i said it Will take for the new eley ones to be rather special for me to switch. Really don't get all the hype and excitement. Gamebore perform well enough for what I want so can't see I'll be rushing to change. I've also started using the 4's for splashes and floods. Though I've probably used less than a box results so far have been good. Edited November 5, 2012 by Reabrook

kent
Thats better than black for seeing ing the dark. Actually i think you will find that red is the first colour to fade to a grey as the light drops. Whats with all this case colour stuff?
