The dog is 3 years old ,can't keep anything down and keeps being sick even though he has nothing left from the last bout ,in fact the last lot had signs of fresh blood in it ;) He has now come out in lumps under his skin especially above his eyes .This is all in the last 24 hrs btw :lol::lol:

Any advice would be most appreciated as the Vets are shut ............Not quite at the emergency vet stage yet though

Took the JR down first thing this morning where he was kept in .

So far

Temperature was OK. ;)

The X-Ray yeilded nothing untoward .

The blood test revealed dehydration but nothing else .

He is on a drip at the moment and is being kept overnight and if he can keep solid food down tommorrow he'll be out ,if not then it'll be exploratary surgery

Vets do a wonderful job but I'm somewhat bemused how they can operate with no indication as to how much routine procedures cost

Patch is back at home and OK :good:

The vets have no idea what it was and then precedes to tell me it might have been a virus even though we were told the blood test results showed nothing of the sort

Anyway I'm £242 lighter for a re hydrated JR :good: ...............Next time I'll introduce my intrevenus garden hose and re hydrate him myself :good:

Right now to talk my girls into wanting to become Vets and make a mint

................................................................................

.........................................................................

Apologies to any vets who happen to post on here ,Just for that sort of money we would have liked a deffinate answer and not maybe's

Earlier in the year both of mine were vomiting and ******** all over(can`t spell dia-wotsit)and there was bits of blood from both ends. When I spoke to the young vet,she said that you should feed your dog small amounts of carbohydrates as when they void themselves and there is nothing there all they do is break blood vessels and cause them more stress and dehydration.

Glad he's ok.

Vets bills can be scary. My dads a vet and isn't local to us. Our two Jack Russels had an accident with a horse and got trampled very badly to the point one needed to be resuscitated though we thought she was dead. They'd been on a double lead and managed to wrap it round the horses leg which then reared up with them attached and tried to shake them off and stamped on them. It was horrendous. Got them to the nearest vets where they were given a big dose of steroids and one had 2 xrays taken. As it was Saturday lunchtime they were going to just shut them up and see if they survived which as we weren't happy about it we made the decision against all advice to move them 100 miles to my dad. Good job we did as apparently the drip and drugs one was on would have killed her as they were treating her like she'd been in a car accident yet she was mostly suffering from strangulation from the lead. Once we got her there and she was a mess eyes bulging couldn't see or hear or stand he despite having 30 years experience dug out a few books and actually bunged her on a diuretic to reduce the swelling. Within 20 minutes she could see then he wanted to put her down to see if she could walk straight and she raced unsteadily out of the door he caught her and she ****** all down his leg. She'd obviously been gasping. They went on to make a pretty much full recovery. But the main point was for 2 steroid injections 1 drip 2 xrays and 1 hour in the vets we spent £250 so god knows what it would have cost had we left her there to die!
