stan68
What kind of lamp? Its a cluson intercepter dave
humperdingle
Its a cluson intercepter dave OK, best thing (i've found!) is to mount the lamp UNDER the barrel if possible. If this isn't practical, as far back as possible on the scope - This might help to effectively cast a shadow onto the mod. Tbh, it never seemed to make much difference to me covering the mod with anything. Even something black like inner tube still shines bright when a 100w bulb is right next to it! Other ideas include sticking a cut piece of card or similar on the scope, in front of the lamp, so that casts a shadow on the mod. Also, covering the bottom 1/3rd of the lamp lens with black tape, but I never found this particularly good. Far far, though, mounting underneath is best, as it eliminates the problem completely. Fisheruk
Yep mount the light under the barrel, or hold it to the side.
Dougy
Put some insulation tape over tha bottom of the scope, about an inch.
Amazed
I have seen people putting a tube on the end of the lamp to stop the side spill of light onto the mod dont know how long you would need it tho maybe worth a try.
jimmyb79
Put some insulation tape over tha bottom of the scope, about an inch. I tried the neoprene cover/butler creek ideas and putting electrical tape over the bottom third of the objective lens was the only thing that worked for me. I found that the flip scope cover did help but affected the beam too much.
Dekers
Lots of ways, and lots in history as well, scope sunshades can be one of the easiest fixes.
al4x
II'm intrigued how you mount a lamp on a rifle under the barrel?
Dekers
II'm intrigued how you mount a lamp on a rifle under the barrel? Deben do/used to do, a shotgun clamp for their Tracer range, it was a barrel mount, not to difficult to pack the fitting out so it would mount under a rifle barrel. I have also seen other fittings, and there are plenty of clamps that can be purchased and worked on by the avid gunsmiths here! Looking at the way many of the other different types of Lamps mount I would have thought it quite possible some could go straight on the barrel! I'm sure others will furnish better detail. al4x
and strapping something to your rifle barrel is guaranteed to make it shoot badly and to a different zero.

Dekers
and strapping something to your rifle barrel is guaranteed to make it shoot badly and to a different zero. :hmm: That is a different question/debate, and isn't always the case anyway! humperdingle
and strapping something to your rifle barrel is guaranteed to make it shoot badly and to a different zero. It doesn't need to be attached to the barrel, just be underneath the barrel. Best way I found was attached to a QD stud as far forward on the stock as possible. There are all sorts of clamps and mounts on the market, some designed for guns, some not but can be modified to suit.
al4x
:hmm: That is a different question/debate, and isn't always the case anyway! Not always but I know even a bipod touching my mod when closed moves mine 4". Really it's not a good option,
Dougy
AGAIN, insulation tape about a 3rd up from the bottom of the scope. If you go sunshade it will need to be quite long, shade on the lamp ~large easy to knock the lamp out of line, mounting the lamp under the rifle not easy. Take the mod off,is another option. But the easiest option is a bit of sticky tape...

humperdingle
Thanks guys a few good ideas there for me to try! Try the simplest ones 1st - Must admit, I've never tried the tape over the scope, but sounds by far the easiest to do
