Duffryn
Sorry I didnt post a video last week. I was working until 4am and managed to oversleep and miss the shoot. Expensive mistake ! Just took delivery of a Go Pro 3 Hero Black edition and tried it for the first time on Saturday. I didnt set the angle right on the 1st drive and left the camera on draining the battery for the 2nd and 3rd drives ( the wifi kills battery life). Anyway whilst its not the best video I have ever shot at least it shows the Go Pro 3 in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kArRMfT5e5g

.philmypower.
Great video. You can turn the wifi off if you want to and just turn it on when you need it otherwise you won't get much battery mate.

Fal
Hi Dyffryn, Can I ask where you managed to get your GoPro Hero 3 from? I can find the Hero 3's in a few places but not the black edition. Everywhere seems to be out of stock until January. :( Thanks, Rhodri

-Mongrel-
Be interested in what the settings were for the camera as for something hailed as the latest bit of kit, the quality is distinctly underwhelming. The subject matter however is great!
Highlandladdie
i agree it looks **** to be honest I would think that whatever editing suite was used caused this (and maybe a high fps). Not the camera itself. if the raw footage was uploaded you would see this. Edit to add: If you read the description on youtube, the explanation is there. Pretty much as above. Cranfield
Regarding the quality of the video, I suspect the clue is in the thread title, " First day out ...... ", I am sure practise will make perfect. As has been said, the content is great , as usual, but we don't want to read any more oversleeping stories. A lot of us look forward to seeing your shooting videos, so if you want to book a wake up call anytime, just PM me.

Yes I messed the settings up and shot in 50fps which my editing software had trouble handling. Lesson learnt !! I promise not to work till 4am in the morning the day before a shoot again. Ruined my weekend but has some nice texts from the other guns thanking me for letting them shoot my birds ! Sorry this is the link for the black edition https://www.google.c...354675689,d.d2k Thanks I've got this. I thought that Vegas would handle the 50fps but I've sorted the settings out now. This weeks footage should be a lot better

Duffryn
Duffryn, can i ask how you think the Hero 3 Black Ed' marks up to the Hero2, with a WiFi backpak.. Is it worth it? The picture and sound quality is better. Low light filming is MUCH better. For me the big selling point was the wifi remote but it eats batteries which is a pain. IMO however it is worth the extra money over a Go Pro 2 Great stuff - Have you tried affixing the camera to the shotgun? Ive tried it but its quite a weight on the end of the gun and you don't get great footage. I'm attaching the Go Pro 2 to Rob the lab next to give that go. humperdingle
I'm attaching the Go Pro 2 to Rob the lab next to give that go. Great idea... I've seen youtube vids of people attaching tiny cameras to their cats... Some interesting footage
Duffryn
TBH I use Vegas @ 60fps with no problems, it maybe what you are rendering the video to? Just checked the render setting and it rendered at 25fps by mistake. I guess the rendering messed it up. Youtube only plays back at 25/30fps anyway. My feeling is that I may as well just shoot on 25fps and just use 50fps if I'm likely to use slow mo ?
