ayano3
Boxing Day in Grantham town centre with the hounds. The dogs surrounded the lady as it was later discovered she had a pocket full of dog treats !!! Edited December 27, 2012 by ayano3
ayano3
Some of the horses and riders. There was a following of around 500 people there to support the hunt and hounds.

Reece
Apparently, protestors up here tried to block the road. Not sure which hunt it was though.
ayano3
I was shocked at the amount of people who were there to see the hunt arrive, They stayed in the centre for almost a hour before leaving to applause from the large crowd. The crowd looked to be from all walks in life, it was not just a country event. Children and parents were on the green fussing the dogs which were all known by name. Hopefully we will be able to see the hunt for years to come. We must never lose our traditions. I cant imagine all the wall plates etc in public houses, muesums and the like being replaced by anything else.( I had to be politically correct there)

I cant imagine all the wall plates etc in public houses, muesums and the like being replaced by anything else.( I had to be politically correct there) That is exactly what I have seen over the years since the ban, there have been more people and from a wider demographic turning out to watch/support the hunt. I think there is a vast number of people that like to see traditional events and would like to support them but in years past were put off by the final act, so to spaek. I think the numbers will continue to grow in future years and, I will probably get slated for this, but it may turn out that the ban could actually be good for the future of hunting in the long run. FalconFN
Fantastic turnout Falcon :good: 90 riders but must have been a couple of thousand watching - no barriers or police, just a nice atmosphere with anyone able to stroke the hounds. ack-ack
Its always a stirring sight whether you support it or not. Remember folks, one of the best ways to support your local hunt is to attend the point to point racing. Every year attendances are down and some mees are getting pulled. A poor turn out at the gate really hammers the hunt coffers. It's a blast. If anybody will be following the South East season and fancy doing lift shares PM me as I'm going to be bang on it this year.
