Rob G
When i talk to my mates and tell them i spent all week end sitting in a hide pigeon shooting, they think i'm mad. To me pigeon shooting is the best shotgun shooting there is.No two birds are the same. It's not just about sitting there waiting for a shot. You have to out wit them study there habits.Get your decoy pattern right make sure you are well hidden.Thats the easy bit, when they do come you have to try and hit them. Cranfield
Decoying pigeons, is a bit like fishing. The enjoyment and satisfaction you get doing it, is almost impossible to communicate to someone else. I gave up trying years ago and just got use to the eye rolling, head tapping gestures they make. ernyha
Both of the previous posts sum up the sport of pigeon shooting perfectly. No two days are the same with the unexpected and surprise coming at any time. A truly fantastic sport in my view and one that helps protect the farmers crops as well. BTMS
The 7 P's Prior Planning Prevents P#ss Poor Pigeoning performance And then the pigeons do soming else that you have not planned for but at the end of the day you have enjoyed the freshair and the country side no phones no her indoors and the peace and quiet (apart from the odd bang here and there hopefully)

Shropshire Lad
I shoot with an air rifle and if one of my mates asks me why I get them on my target range, stick the gun in there hand and give them a few paper targets to shoot. It usually takes about 5mins to convince them that shooting is better than being a Soft Lad.

LLOYDY
The great master of all time Achie Coats was once asked " Is it proper that I should shoot a pigeon on the ground " he replied "After searching the country side and finding where the pigeon are located , sited your hide in the right place, set your decoys out in a convinsing pattern. All this to entice the most wilyest quarry to come into range,I am most certain that you are entitled to shoot it on the ground." This is the advice from the master . He also advocates that you let the first one land and shoot the one following first, then take the second , as he flys away. ALL THE BEST ADVICE FROM MR COATES BOOK ON PIGEON SHOOTING. PS. The best shooting sport ever.
red_stag88
PS. The best shooting sport ever. I agree with your statent to a certain extent, but watching a 300lb Red fold under you shot, with a hatrack like a tree and a flank like a horse, plus youve stalked the *** since 6am. Joking apart it is something else, but i see your point as you can have just as much fun knocking woodies out of full flight, with a left right and centre.
