When i talk to my mates and tell them i spent all week end sitting in a hide pigeon shooting, they think i'm mad.

To me pigeon shooting is the best shotgun shooting there is.No two birds are the same. It's not just about sitting there waiting for a shot. You have to out wit them study there habits.Get your decoy pattern right make sure you are well hidden.Thats the easy bit, when they do come you have to try and hit them.

The great master of all time Achie Coats was once asked " Is it proper that I should shoot a pigeon on the ground " he replied

"After searching the country side and finding where the pigeon are located , sited your hide in the right place, set your decoys out in a convinsing pattern. All this to entice the most wilyest quarry to come into range,I am most certain that you are entitled to shoot it on the ground."

This is the advice from the master .

He also advocates that you let the first one land and shoot the one following first, then take the second , as he flys away.

I agree with your statent to a certain extent, but watching a 300lb Red fold under you shot, with a hatrack like a tree and a flank like a horse, plus youve stalked the *** since 6am.

Joking apart it is something else, but i see your point as you can have just as much fun knocking woodies out of full flight, with a left right and centre.
