linny
you can try lofting sum decoys up in the trees but if they dont like the woods you will struggle
TJ91
No there isn't really any way you can get then to roost there
fenboy
You are not going to make a wild bird roost where it does not want to , the only way would be to make your own woods attractive to pigeons , they like to be sheltered from the wind if possible and trees surrounded by conifers is always a good bet . So the best thing to do is plant some trees and wait 20 years !!
Sx3 clay breaker
Have you tried asking them politely Nah only joking mate maybe spread some corn everywhere ?? Rgds scott
Catweazle
Conifers would work, they also like trees covered in ivy. Both ideas are impractical though. Sorry.
Fisheruk
If you do get them to roost, once you shoot a couple that will be the end of the roost!
Blackpowder
Impossible, pigeon favour for the most part coniferous woods providing warmth and shelter. I've been involved in roost shooting through my local Assoc since the 1970s mostly on the same estates where there are always woods where you can expect a lot of shooting and woods where you would not. A lot depends on the location of where the pigeon are feeding as at times some mediocre woods can prove brilliant. Not a lot of help but if your woods are coniferous and sheltered perhaps another year might bring different results as crops rotate nearby. evo
put a couple of birds on the deck then loft a few, might bring a few in but as said before if they dont like the woods they wont roost there, hope this helps but i do think lofting a few should work
bruno22rf
Apart from trays of seeds and an MP3 playing lullabies you wont do this in winter cos the birds need shelter/warmth to survive.During the summer months, however, you should be able to pull them towards your wood with lofted decoys-when the weather is warm pigeons tend to simply roost close to where they end up at sunset. They still like to be hidden though,so if you wood is full of dead/bare trees they wont stay long but I'm guessing you only want them to fly in once.
