overandunder2012
hi this evening two officers of the law arrived on my door step asking for someone who had the same 1st name as my wife who was connected with someone else i had never heard of. anyway after a few mins they realised they had mad a mistake and we didnt know any of the people whom they mentioned. my point is being as i have a sgc you would think they know all about me and would not send officers around to a house with guns in it when they obviously where not aware who was living at the house. Pushkin
Have you considered how paranoid you have become since you got your SGC? I think you will find that forces throughout the country know very little about their sgc holders unless you have done something to bring you to their attention? The nearest you will get to them knowing all about you is should there be some kind of incident at your house that requires them to respond to - you may have a marker at the side of your name and address to indicate sgc holder. Even where there is known criminal past history - people do get a chance to own a shotgun without being labelled. Pushkin
fortune
They must be THE TWO officers on duty in kent then. Did they arrive on a push bike by any chance?
Muddy Funker
hi this evening two officers of the law arrived on my door step asking for someone who had the same 1st name as my wife who was connected with someone else i had never heard of. anyway after a few mins they realised they had mad a mistake and we didnt know any of the people whom they mentioned. my point is being as i have a sgc you would think they know all about me and would not send officers around to a house with guns in it when they obviously where not aware who was living at the house. So are you saying you would have preferred armed officers to make the enquiry? Or that every SGC holder is a threat to coppers?

Or that every SGC holder is a threat to coppers? theres always one isnt there Have you considered how paranoid you have become since you got your SGC? read the post mate, dont make it up please iv not suggested the police did anything wrong only that i was surprised the address was not flagged up and as such the person they were looking for was not the home owner. i got no problem with them coming round to ask Edited January 29, 2013 by overandunder2012
TaxiDriver
From the time it took them to respond to whatever the initial call was and turn up at your door, Any number of people could theoretically moved into and out of your address. Addresses or Persons may be flagged on PNC with warnings for violence, drugs, firearms, domestic violence but not Nescessarily because you are a Legitimate SGC holder

Muddy Funker
If you have an SGC or FAC you will have a pnc number created if you weren't previously known.
unapalomablanca
Having a shotgun does make you feel a bit different in the early days of having one, but as the years go by its like having anything, normal and forgettable. I know of people who walk around in public with theirs in the sleeve and to them, its no different to a fishing rod, totally normal and legal. I think the police worry more about criminals than people with legal guns, in fact many police have guns and enjoy shooting.
GingerCat
Wish I had a crystal ball and knew everyone who lived in any particular house. Would make my job a lot easier. After all most people have driving licences and national insurance but we still haven't a clue who lives where what with all this human rightr business, accountability, proportionality, necessity and legal issues to wade through,, if only it were a police state, what would pw talk about though..... Anyway back to the real world where people move in and out of houses as often as they change socks and occasionally get new partners. ozzy518
It would be so much better to microchip the entire population so if we want to know where someone is just use GPS . Add a small amount of explosive to the chip and we could remotely detonate anyone engaging in criminal behaviour.
fortune
They must be THE TWO officers on duty in kent then. Did they arrive on a push bike by any chance? My post was not a smear against the plod but to highlight how thin the line is. All gov services are to the bone with the cuts. My youngest daughter is doing an adult nursing degree and is currently doing a training /Observing section at a major NHS hospital and most of this last week there have been two trained nurses and her on a ward of 23 patients who have a wide range of serious problems. Needless to say the moral is fairly low. Last weekend I drove all round the M25 along the M40/A40 to Greenford then up past Wembley stadium to a house near there and back through to home in Kent via the North Circular in all a distance of about 180 miles. I didn’t see a single police officer or a police vehicle at any point. In my local area the local police shop was recently shut, Last year when we got broken into at work plod didn't turn up for several days and that is only because someone was off shift ill and a vehicle became available.
