I want a sturdy and reliable gun and am not worried about aesthetics.

Wharf Rat
Second hand Franchi over some of the cheaper new semi-auto guns would be my 2p worth +1 Love using my Franchi AL 48 for rough shooting and pigeons. Less than 6lbs weight, easy to clean. 30g carts and upwards only though. Bought from another PW member for less than £150.00 - bargain. Hard to go wrong with an old Beretta 301/302/303 or Browning A5 either.
Alecheywood
Thanks all. I currently use a 16 bore side by side so you can see why I need to change!

JimLondon
I heard they jam quite a lot though Not if you keep it clean and run it well oiled. If you do go for the hatsan go for the 26" barrel I had the 30" and found it to long so bought a spare 26" barrel and the difference is amazing. malantone
Just to coment on the Escort I`ve had a 3inch one for about 3yrs, it`s never put a foot wrong, all the probs arise when people buy the 3.5inch model then don`t want to pay for the heavy loads needed to feed it, or they take it down the local clay ground and try and put 28grm loads through it, and everyone sees it jam time after time. Don`t be frightened of owning an escort they are great value for money guns.

I am now using 70 mm cartridges and not had a problem, most trips out it gets cleaned afterwoods, though some times its can be several trips before I give it a proper clean (I do wipe the spring and tube down and re-oil after every trip). Alecheywood
Would a semi auto be you're gun of choice for pigeon shooting?
williamr
Hi, Webley and scott 810, I have had one for a couple of weeks now,for the same reason as you,I wanted a low cost Pigeon gun as I did not want to put my Silver pigeon through the trials of shooting from a hide, its great at recycling also theres very little recoil with this gun if any,so a Webley 810.
